Meet Autumn Kendrick

Today we’d like to introduce you to Autumn Kendrick.

Hi Autumn, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Over the course of the past decade, I have served as staff for various political administrations and non-profits.

All provided exceptional experience and knowledge in communications and marketing. But I never truly felt that I was helping my community and world as much as I would like. I am a creator and a maker–how could I lend the best of my talents to those causes that needed their voice amplified to serve others?

In 2019, I quit my full-time job in Washington DC to start my own marketing firm which would focus on aiding small businesses and non-profits, those that may need marketing but do not have the resources to hire a marketing team. I knew that there was a way to make a bigger impact on the world by lifting up others through my knowledge of art, design, and typography.

I wanted to help share the stories of the single mother who opened her own therapy practice, the foster child who found a forever home, and the refugee who built a new life in America. These people are resilient and courageous and their stories need to be shared. I strayed from the beaten path and the comfort of a salary in hopes of growing compassion and igniting successful journeys for those whose voices deserved to be amplified.

A wonderful bonus of having my own company is setting my hours and working short days so I can spend ample time with my children while they are young. I am able to experience the best parts of being a mother and a working professional.

My company now operates with five subcontractors on a full-time basis.

In three years, I have worked with more than two dozen organizations and businesses, helping to share their mission and brand. Autumn Ann Web & Designs has grown simply through referral which is a huge compliment to the quality of our work and the personal relationships we form with each client.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In 2020, I had my baby girl. The day my husband was told to not come to work the next day due to Covid-19 was the night I went into labor.

Not only were we struggling with the demands of a newborn but doing it in isolation. I struggled with postpartum depression for the first 12 months of my daughter’s life. I fell behind on deadlines, sleep, and daily responsibilities simply because I had lost the desire to do anything.

My husband was so supportive and carried a lot of the weight, emotionally and physically that first year so I could accomplish little goals for the few clients I had left after my maternity leave.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Autumn Ann Web & Designs is a “marketing team in a box.” We specialize in anything marketing from social media and website development to graphic design and analytics.

I am most proud of my graphic design work whether it is the logos I have created or the magazine ads I have designed. I have loved art since I was a little girl but I would have never been voted “business owner” in high school. Taking my artistic love and turning it into a daily livelihood has been a feat that consistently surprises me.

What sets me aside from other marketing firms is the personal relationship I have with each and every client. I am not only your project manager and designer but your colleague. I am as much a part of my clients’ stories as they are and I want them told as beautifully as they do.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
My family. They are my joy and my support system.

As tough as the bedtime routine may be each night, I relish the beauty they see in the most common of experiences. It renews how I see the world and how I can interpret the world for others.
