Meet Austin King of Rafterhouse in Arcadia and Paradise Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Austin King.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Austin. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Rafterhouse was established in late 2012. We initially began flipping homes by performing under roof line cosmetic remodels and then re-selling the home. As the real estate market began to change, our remodel scope of work began to grow to larger scale work that included lots of new or added square footage. It didn’t take long for us to enter the new construction space as we began building ground up new homes. As our journey continued to unfold we began taking on client based build to suit work and recently are now offering interior design services to homeowners looking to renovate their existing home or build new.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Nothing good in life comes without hard work and some struggles along the way. What I’ve found important is to try and learn the most from the struggles as they tend to be inner laced with lessons that will ultimately make you a stronger business leader.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Rafterhouse – what should we know?
At Rafterhouse, we focus our attention on creating a unique and very well built home. Our design, architecture and construction aesthetic is grounded with timeless and classical elements yet livened up with vintage touches, antique finds and quality craftsmanship. Equally important as the style of the home are the people and process it takes to get from conceptual idea to turn key finished home. Each step of the way is carefully guided and choreographed to create the right client experience.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My wife deserves a medal for all I’ve put her through. Maybe even a large trophy. All my wild ideas, my dreamer mentality… all the crazy ideas she’s listened to and replied, “I trust you”.
