Meet Ashly Wenzel of Ashly Ignite NeuroMyoFascia Therapy in Ahwatukee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashly Wenzel.

Ashly, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I lived with debilitating pain, injuries, and feeling lost for years. I am grateful beyond words to now live in harmony with my body and spirit. With my entire heart, my life mission is helping others to alleviate pain, enhance movement, understand their bodies, and find hope with healing. I intend to share and give all I have learned so others can find healing and harmony in their body, mind, and soul.

I was a national champion synchronized swimmer and a triathlete. With a lifelong desire to help others and a fascination with anatomy and physiology, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology: Pre-Med from Grand Canyon University. Shortly after graduation in 2011, I was hit by a truck while riding my triathlon racing bike. Years of surgery, rehab, and pain changed my life perspective and career path completely. Pilates helped me to move, understand, and appreciate my body again and I became a PMA Certified Pilates Teacher in 2013. I specialize in Pilates for pain and rehab. After living in chronic pain that seemed hopeless for years, I tried fascia therapy as a last resort and found healing relief for the first time. I became a NeuroMyoFascia Specialist and began teaching fascia therapy training courses in 2016, training health and wellness professionals.

In 2018, I co-founded SRT Therapy with my partner Chris Kalisz. SRT is a soft, gentle, and non-aggressive approach to NeuroMyoFascia therapy. By listening and guiding the body, we can help calm the nervous system, unwind the fascial webbing, release emotional trauma from the tissue, re-balance the muscles strengths and weaknesses, and return to homeostasis and harmony. SRT Certifications are 2-day traveling clinics for all massage therapists, personal trainers, physical therapists, chiropractors, pilates and yoga teachers, and anyone interested in bodywork.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
NeuroMyoFascia Therapy is a completely gentle and non-aggressive bodywork focusing on the fascia, muscles, bones, joints, and neurological systems. Sessions are personalized and 100% unique to your needs. Every system in the body is synergistic with one another and I use a multi-system approach to really “listen” to the body and tailor the session to what you really need. By listening and guiding the body, we can work together to calm the nervous system, unwind fascial webbing, release physical and emotional trauma from the tissue, re-balance the muscles strengths and weaknesses, and return to homeostasis and harmony.

Our bodies uniquely function as a direct result of the way we live our lives. From the sport we grew up playing and the injury we suffered 15 years ago to the way we sleep at night and how we exercise today has over time created imbalances in our bodies. If we spend years carrying children around on one hip or work in a profession that has us leaned over a computer, our body has developed certain patterns of poor posture and movement. You may notice tightness or pain in your spine, hips, and knees. It may be getting more and more difficult to recover after a hard day of yard work or a morning run. Chronic tightness, pain, and stress leave the sympathetic nervous system in a state of fight-or-flight. I help bring balance and harmony to the body, mind, and spirit, allowing a parasympathetic state where we heal, rest, and restore.

I am so proud to be Co-Founder of SRT Therapy. My partner Chris Kalisz and I teach a unique approach to neuromyofascial release and stretching with a completely gentle, soft, and non-aggressive application. With SRT, our Philosophy is simple, “Hugging Helps Heal.” We approach healing from both ends of the spectrum involving emotional and energetic connection with physical.

When you look back, what are you most proud of?
I once lived everyday in debilitating pain. This pain felt like a dark cloud over my life and deeply impacted my mental and emotional health. My proudest moment? Everyday that I get to help others out of pain is my proudest moment. Being able to help them heal, to help find peace and harmony is the greatest gift I could ever ask for.

Teaching SRT Therapy has created a ripple effect. As our students return to their clients, the stories make their way back to us. As they help the world around them feel less pain, my heart is so full knowing I helped by sharing our approach.
