Meet Ashley Rostro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Rostro.

Ashley, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
After having my daughter, I was a stay at home mom for three years, I loved getting to spend so much time with my daughter, but it unfortunately doesn’t pay the bills. My husband got orders to Virginia Beach when after trying out a few random jobs I met a great family who was looking for some help and being someone who loves kids it was a great fit and now I couldn’t see myself doing anything else. Being a nanny brings me so much joy, but it isn’t always sunshine and playgrounds, just like any other job it has its ups and downs. The biggest down will be when I have to say goodbye to my “9-5 kids”.

Has it been a smooth road?
It’s been far from a smooth road to finding this job. With struggling to find a job that fits with a daycare schedule and my husband’s active duty schedule, moving, then a job that the hours became demanding. Another job closed down, another job payed too little and didn’t give enough hours, it was a bumpy road before I found this job. But eventually, everything worked out, and I met some great people along the way.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I currently work as a nanny. I have been doing this full time going on two years. I’m surprised I never thought about being a nanny before, I have worked a lot of jobs with little ones. I love kids, so working with them has always been something I enjoy. I’m hoping to continue being a nanny at my husband’s next duty station.
