Meet Arin Finger of i9 Sports Greater Phoenix

Today we’d like to introduce you to Arin Finger.

Arin, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am originally from Scottsdale Arizona. I studied Media Arts and Business at the University of Arizona. After college, I moved to San Francisco to attend an Animation School. During school, I decided to get a job in the industry to gain some hands-on experience. I was hired as Production Assistant for a small visual effects company called The Orphanage. While working there I quickly worked my way up to a Visual Effects Producer Position.

I then spent the next 15 years working in Visual Effects and Animation for Feature Films such as Sin City, Hellboy, Tron Legacy, and Thor. I spent the last two years of my career working for Dreamworks Animation in Bangalore, India. After finishing up the Feature Film, The Penguins of Madagascar, my wife and I decided it was time to move back to Phoenix and plant our roots as we had a 3-year-old with us and were planning to have another child. I researched many new career paths and ultimately decided to purchase a franchise with i9 Sports.

Starting an i9 Sports franchise has been a blessing for my family and I. It allows us the work-life balance I never had in the movie business and also gives back to the community I am originally from. We started with our first location in North Phoenix in the Winter of 2014 with 150 kids. We now have 12 locations around the valley and average around 1800 kids per season. We have partnered with the Phoenix Suns, Arizona Diamondback, Coyotes and Phoenix Rising and offer our members exclusive perks to get up and close with the players.

Has it been a smooth road?
There have certainly been challenges of starting a new business in a new area where nobody knows your name. The biggest challenge has been with marketing and growing the business along with finding a part-time staff to coach the sports on the Weekends.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the i9 Sports Greater Phoenix story. Tell us more about the business.
i9 Sports is the nations first and fastest growing Youth Sports League franchise. We offer Flag Football, Soccer, T-Ball/Coach Pitch Baseball, Basketball and Cheerleading. We will be starting to offer Lacrosse in the Spring along with Volleyball sometime in 2019. We focus on boys and girls ages 3-14. Our format is a practice and game once per week on either a Saturday or Sunday making it very convenient for working families. Our core values that set us apart from other organizations are Fun, Safety and Convenience. We look forward to giving our customers an Experience Beyond the Game starting from our easy to use website and registration process.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
As of now, the trend seems to be moving away from Flag Football due to all of the concussion concerns. This is also why we are adding sports such as Lacrosse and Volleyball to give kids an opportunity to experience other sports in a non-competitive environment.
