Meet Ariana Lopez of Shop Aril

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ariana Lopez.

Hi Ariana, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
This dream started a long time ago. It wasn’t until 2019 that it seemed achievable. At this time, I was a stay-at-home mom to my then 3 and 1-year-old. They are now 5 and 3 years old. I had tried other from home jobs but none of them serve or showed my purpose. The reason I wanted to start this is that I saw that in my community, Laveen, there weren’t any clothing stores that serve people of my body type. There are only a few stores, period besides Target or Old Navy. I tirelessly looked for clothing that didn’t make me feel more insecure about my mom body. I looked for trendy or comfortable clothing. I found very few.

I started to do my research and was enthusiastic to serve my community. Then 2020 happened. It seemed like my dream was dead because most stores were forced to close down. Most people didn’t want to go anywhere but they were still ordering to their door. Ding! That’s when I considered an eCommerce store. I would still be able to serve the community plus reach many more people. My mission is to empower women. To give them comfortable outfits that make them feel and look great.

I’m a typical mom and wife with all the same struggles, mentally, emotionally, and everything in between. I want to inspire women to go after their dreams. No matter how big or small. I want to show people that with hard work, it is possible.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has not been smooth, for sure. There’s has been a lot of uncertainty within myself and what I could do or achieve. Another challenge has been not being able to find funding. Not having enough credit or receiving funding has delayed a few things. At this point, I’m rolling with the punches.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Shop Aril?
Shop Aril is an online women’s clothing store focused on inclusivity and diversity. We want to be able to provide comfortable clothing to women who are looking and feeling their best regardless of their size, shape, body type, and background. Our products primarily include high-quality basics, bottoms, and tops. We continue to offer versatile products for all our customers and are excited to bring in more clothing items.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory is my grandmother, specifically when she would walk me to and from school. She had a big lasting impact on my life. She nurtured me, showing me anything from sewing, cooking to how to be a kind and caring person.
