Meet Anthony Glover

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Glover. Anthony was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Shamirrah Hill.

Hi Anthony, we’re so thrilled to have you sharing your story with us today. Maybe we can kick things off by having you introduce yourself to our readers? We’d love to have you go into your story and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve been in the youth mentorship field since 2016 and young black males have always been the target. As the COVID-19 pandemic began, it prevented me from mentoring young men the way I was accustomed to. During the time, I was mentoring with “Fight For Life” as well as directing “Thunderbirds On The Rise,” a young men’s club at TG Barr Elementary. As schools shut down and the world began to quarantine, I didn’t want it to stop me from completely living my passion, which is contributing to positively guiding young men.

That’s when the idea of writing a children’s book came about. I figured I can create a book with positive lessons and wouldn’t have to physically be around the young men as all I’d have to do is mail it to them. That’s when I reached out to DG Self-Publishing for their guidance with my journey.

They helped me complete my first children’s book, “I Can’t Wait To Be A Man.” It’s a book narrated by an excited young boy who shares the lessons he learned from his Father and Uncle about one day being the best Man he can be. The book has been selling all over the country and I’m proud to see this book in so many hands of young boys.

What makes me most proud of this book, is seeing so many young boys feel proud of themselves for learning things to take with them on their journey to Manhood.

As you know, we’re big fans of Shamirrah Hill and DG Self-Publishing we know you’ve worked with them quite a bit as well. We’d love to hear about your experience working with DG Self-Publishing.
Prior to creating this book with DG Self-Publishing, the process seemed very intimidating to me. It didn’t seem hard to sit and write it, but the process of getting in published was overwhelming. I knew that I wanted a service that would walk with me with every step of the way and that’s what DG Self-Publishing provided.

I was already familiar with Donald and Shamirrah Hill as they have been associates of mine from the community. I already had a sense of their character, which I admired, and that made it easier to put my vision in their hands. They introduced me to their system and process beforehand. I could really feel the passion they had for what they do.

From the editing process, illustrating, selling and marketing, they provided detailed guidance for each step from beginning to finish. That’s also what I loved most about working with them. They also gave tips and input when needed. If they felt there was something that may enhance what I was already doing, they shared it with me.

After launching my book, it got a great response from the Phoenix community and beyond. I chose to ship every book from home and it definitely kept me busy.
