Meet Anthony Bertoncin in Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Bertoncin.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Anthony. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My journey really started last August when I had got a phone call that would change the course of my life. An entrepreneur influencer I was following named Casey Adams, owner of BuildYourEmpire, was looking for someone to be the Head of Content for the brand and I was one of the few people he was looking at. Thanks to my friend Kieran O’Brien, Casey had found me and my work and was interested. So, with all three of us on a phone call (at 11 pm by the way), we are talking about how we should all meet up in person for the first time so I could meet the rest of the team and see if we would work well together. All of us are from different parts of the country and they were looking for a place here in Paradise Valley. Coming towards the end of the phone call, Kieran proceeds to say, “Actually… we are gonna be in Phoenix tomorrow morning, do you think you can meet us there?” Let me say again, it was almost midnight at this point and they wanted me there at like 9 am the next day. At the time, my freelance videography/photography business wasn’t doing the best, I also had a few personal training clients on the side but overall wasn’t doing too good. I knew this was an insane opportunity as BuildYourEmpire has 1.5 million followers on Instagram and almost every millennial in the business space knows what it is.

After Kieran asked me if I could be in Phoenix the next day, I didn’t even take time to think about it but I said yeah I’ll be there, not putting into consideration prices, plans the next day or anything. Next, I looked for flights till 2 am, found a round trip for a good price and woke my mom up to tell her the news. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her so confused in my life haha, she thought I was straight messing with her. With some good convincing she managed to let me go. I then had to go wake my friend up from his house to make him take me to the airport at 5 am. We got to the airport at 5, the flight took off at seven, and I was in Phoenix for the first time at 9 am. This is where my life completely changed and I immediately got thrown into a “millionaire lifestyle.” Long story short, I was only in town for 21 hours and was proving myself to Casey and BuildYourEmpire the entire time. They loved it… as long as I could put together a good recap video of the day with some sick photos. After getting back to Kansas City (where I’m originally from), I spent the next four days editing to make sure everything was perfect. Nervously, I sent over the finished product….. Casey saw improvements that could be made but they gave me the opportunity. I moved to Paradise Valley two weeks later and pretty much dropped everything I was doing back home to take advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity.

Since I moved here in September of 2018, I was doing content for BuildYourEmpire. We threw entrepreneurial masterminds at our house in PV, traveled to events all over the country, and just built up our networks. I’ve been fortunate enough to work with some of my favorite social media influencers and brands through it all! Sadly in February of this year, my time with BuildYourEmpire came to an end. We are on good terms still but I “outgrew” the skillset required for the job. I know commit my full time to my content creation and digital marketing agency as well as personal training! My life just in the last nine months has been an absolute rollercoaster and I can’t thank my friends Kieran O’Brien and Casey Adams enough for pretty much changing my life completely!

Has it been a smooth road?
It definitely was not a smooth road, haha! As I was in the process of dropping everything to move across the country, I was taking online college classes at UMKC in Kansas City. My mom and dad have always been super oriented on making sure I graduated college but when I moved down here and the job started taking up more and more time, I had to choose. I went with my passion and ended up leaving school. My parents were super nervous for me and honestly still are but they see that I’m doing what I love and that I enjoy every day of my life regardless of the struggles I face every so often being in the entrepreneur space!

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I’m a full-time content creator and digital marketer! I now have an agency with a few of my friends that specializes in creating content, digital marketing, website building, funnel building, graphic design, etc! The reason I focus that instead of personal training is because since I was apart of BuildYourEmpire, I’ve brought a lot of attention to myself for creating videos and taking amazing photos, so I’m using that hype and “case study” to bring on other clients nationwide. I think what sets me apart from others is that I really have my creative process when it comes to editing and planning shots, which is where I think all the “magic” happens!

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment by far is just how far I’ve come. Not even a year ago, I would be watching tons of different you tubers in different niches for 6+ hours a day. I’d watch and follow some of the top entrepreneurs and influencers like Logan and Jake Paul, Casey Adams, Dan Fleyshman, RackaRacka, Adam 22, and many more. Just in the span of the last 10 months, I’ve not only gotten to meet all these cool people but I can say we’ve had amazing conversations, we’re good friends, or we’ve worked together! That’s the part that puts a smile on my face every time!
