Meet Anne Meringolo of Amunì Travel Forum

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anne Meringolo.

Hi Anne, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I’ve always wanted to travel! I loved the idea of meeting new people and exploring new places, and once I got to travel outside the USA in 2015, I haven’t stopped! I had 5 years of unimaginable experiences and once the pandemic hit in 2020, that all came to an end. I was locked down in a foreign country for months before flights even opened again, and while I was there I thought about all my travels. I reflected as I considered all the students studying abroad, ex-pats, business travelers, and everyone else who was in a similar circumstance to me. I was engrossed in these stories of travelers stuck abroad.

Then I thought, I should cherish these moments, especially during a time like this! To reflect on my travels and share with others who have long questioned me about how things were or where to go, I wanted to build a website. Because there are so many locations I have never visited and have been wanting to see but don’t know where to begin, I wanted to make this travel site available to everyone to share their stories – a hub of travel stories. Traveling isn’t for everyone, but if you even locate one hidden treasure on the travel forum, it would make me so pleased! I think so many people may benefit from it!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As the website owner, I struggled to get started financially and struggled to find people to write on the site. Start-up costs were greater than I expected but this is something I’ve always wanted to do. Also, there weren’t many people traveling and travel blogs are so common – what made Amunì different?

The major distinction, in my opinion, is that we aren’t influencers on this website; rather, the stories are those of regular travelers, such as vacationers, international students, business travelers, flight attendants, and local tour guides. The website is now quite little, but I aim to expand it eventually!

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Amunì Travel Forum?
Amunì Travel Forum is a site where you can go and share your travel experiences! The main forum is filled with stories from places people have gone and want to share. You can create groups to meet like-minded individuals in your area or join our in-person events. We are known for being a free site for anyone to use and for hosting meetup events. What sets us apart is we aren’t filled with travel influencers, these are stories from everyday travelers. We’re proud to have grown so fast over the last year, and can’t wait to read more stories about other people’s travels!

We’d like your readers to know how much we’ve enjoyed sharing our story! We haven’t been to Arizona yet, and can’t wait to go one day, but if they’re interested in creating a group on our site, they’re free to do so! We don’t have a state group yet, so it would be a new first for us. We use the Hike Ireland group to meet up, go for weekend walks/hikes, and just get out of the house – similarly, they can do the same.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
