Meet Angie Arndt

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angie Arndt.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
15 years ago, I was trained in the craft of candle carving, the ‘cut and curl’ method of candle making. Also disciplined with a more refined method of layer fabrication, I continued to evolve the art form with a team of artists in Sedona, AZ. We live-create in 3 different retail shops where we sell the candles on site. Beyond just the craft of candle making, we impress our guests daily with inclusive demonstrations and bringing back the excitement of a lost art.

Please tell us about your art.
The candles that we handcraft are designed with illuminating layers which become translucent when the wick is burning. We take special pride in our glow effects and make a variety of color changing gradients that can be everlasting with replacement candles. We provide guidelines to our customers to melt the wick in for a tunnel effect, thus being functional with replacement candles. It gives us great appreciation for our craftsmanship to know that the candles can be everlasting and enjoyed for years!

As an artist, how do you define success and what quality or characteristic do you feel is essential to success as an artist?
As an artist and entrepreneur, I feel the success our candle making company has largely been defined by building community with our patrons. As we are largely supported by tourism, the importance of providing our guests with a unique experience gives the candles a story.
‘Souvenir’ is a French word for memory, and we value the notion of creating ‘memories’ with the candle craft.

Anyone can visit our 3 locations in the heart of Uptown Sedona. Located in the Sinagua Plaza, Canyon Breeze eatery, or in Canyon Portal shopping center. We are available to make personalized designs and take orders through our website at sedona-candlemagic.com
