Today we’d like to introduce you to Andy Sage.
Andy, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started my journey as a photographer just a hobby in 2015. Just wanting to capture the moments in my life’s journey, knowing that there were hardly any photos of my mother. She is the reason that the company was started. She always talked about how she one day wanted to run a car show. She passed in 2005. She will always have a place in my heart.
My very first photoshoot opportunity was at Westworld for Hot Import Nights. I had met one of the members from 93 AZ Car Club that had mentioned that they had two models. They also mentioned that they wanted me to take photos of them and their cars at the event.
Fast-forwarding to 2019, I was given many opportunities to use my techniques as a photographer. I had no previous photography experience. I have traveled to many places around the Phoenix area to capture the moments of the cars and models. Events that I was able to attend are Arizona Lowrider Super Show, Dub Show, Hot Import Nights, Many traveling opportunities have allowed me to tell a story through photography. Photography has been a passion for me. I have also worked with models, cars, families, senior photos, and weddings. My focus is to capture the moments, whatever the focus is at the present time.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
One of the biggest struggles as a photographer is to get the content out in a timely fashion. I have learned through trial and error more times than none. Also learning the camera as well. The road has been a little rough when I started. I have had many opportunities to give up but I had made up my mind that I wanted to take the journey regardless of the obstacles that may arise. I have been able to overcome obstacles that are in my journey.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
Sage Photography is about capturing the moment in time. Whether it be with models, cars, families and couples. I specialize in working with car show events, families, and high school senior photos. I have been given the opportunity to show my talents through photography. There have been many different shows that I have attended, I enjoy collaborating with different people that attend the events, families, and networking with other photographers as well. One of the things that I am proud of is that I am able to travel to different places. I also pride myself on getting photos to the client in a timely fashion.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up as a kid, I would watch my younger brother take photos of my relatives. I wanted to be like him one day. My parents have raised me to be a gentleman and also told me to be humble in everything that I did. I would work hard at any task that I was given. I am down to earth, very respectful, courteous. I also didn’t have much money as I was grown up as a kid. I wanted to be something great in my life. I would dream that one day that I would be a role model to someone.
