Hi Andrew, We’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. Before we get into specifics, could you briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My culinary journey began in the heart of Nigeria, West Africa, where the vibrant flavors of my culture were brought to life by my mom, grandma, and four sisters. While young, I traveled extensively to different countries, where I got to experience cuisines from all over the world; this expanded my palate and shaped my view on food. Fueled by an enduring passion for food, I found joy in preparing meals for family and friends, consistently receiving positive feedback. Two years ago, inspired by the encouragement of those around me, I made the bold decision to depart from Corporate America and dedicate myself fully to a career in the culinary world. Starting small, my initial clientele consisted of family and friends, but the word quickly spread, leading to opportunities as a private chef and catering specialist. The turning point in my culinary venture occurred when I forged a partnership with Local First Arizona, a local organization that equipped me with invaluable tools and resources, propelling my business to new heights. Over the past two years, I’ve diligently built resources, established meaningful partnerships, and experienced significant growth. The ultimate aspiration is to open a restaurant by the end of 2025—a goal that feels well within reach, given our current trajectory.

Please talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth?
The journey has presented its fair share of challenges, including the task of establishing my name, understanding the nuances of proper business practices, and realizing the consistent effort required on a day-to-day basis. In the beginning, you find yourself wearing multiple hats, juggling roles like a salesperson, marketer, analyst, chef, etc. However, my commitment, diligent work ethic, and determination have brought me to this point. Despite the obstacles, I’ve persevered and made progress along the way.
