Meet Andre Lockhart of Andre Blake Photography LLC in San Tan Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andre Lockhart.

Andre, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My best friend and some other classmates started a clothing brand in high school. My friend needed a camera and he asked me to borrow my moms. I knew my mom wouldn’t allow me just to lend it out unsupervised, so I decided to attend my friend’s photo shoot with the brand. Originally, he was the one one who was supposed to be the photographer. But once I got to the shoot, I just started taking pictures and by default became the brand’s photographer. From there on, I decided to take on the career path as a photographer.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth ride. I have definitely learned a lot about photography from trial and error. Photography has taught me a lot about people as well, the good and bad qualities of people. There have been times when I want to quit, but I have to be persistent.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Andre Blake Photography LLC – what should we know?
I primarily focus on portraits but I would like to branch off into more fashion and beauty photography. I’m still developing my style but I love trying out new techniques in lighting, shadows, and post-processing photo editing. I’m most proud of my creativity and seeing my ideas come to life.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I have so many creative friends who have helped me along. Two of them Alexis Kim and Robert Cordero Jr. allowed me to display some work at their art showcase and from there on have been helping me along the way. At that showcase, I met a good friend of mine Elijah Payan who’s another great photographer, he’s been helping me develop ideas as well.
