Today we’d like to introduce you to Ana Ciurdar.
Ana, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I had loved art from a very young age. My mama and elementary art teacher inspired me to become an artist. Growing up, as an ELL student, art was my way of expressing myself. I was so very blessed to have such influential middle school and high school art teachers. They inspired me to follow my love of art and share my gift with others. I majored in Art Education & this is my 7th year teaching elementary art. Over the years, I have neglected my own art-making and my students have inspired and encouraged me to start creating again. They are my biggest fans and they continue to push me to better myself each and every day. ♡
Has it been a smooth road?
I’d say that it wasn’t always the easiest road but definitely a rewarding outcome. Many questioned my choice to major in art education but I knew that I wanted to teach and hopefully inspire young minds someday. The most challenging part is finding the balance between teaching and my personal work.
We’d love to hear more about your art.
My business name is called A Little Peace of Ana. I’m a local artist in Phoenix and love to paint and occasionally draw & make pottery. I’m really proud of myself for finally stepping out of the shadows and sharing a big part of me with the world. My work is unique and one of a kind. No two pieces are alike and each one has its own special energy and flow.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I think Phoenix has so much to offer to artists! The art scene has grown over the years and there is lots of potential and opportunity for incoming and current artists. I do think who you know is important and connections make a difference. The art community has been welcoming & encouraging thus far. I’m definitely excited to see what is to come!
