Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Reeves.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
My passion for photography began when I was 19 years old. I had just completed my first semester of college, and I still had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. I was advised to make a list of all of my interests and hobbies. Photography was not at the top of the list, because even though I enjoyed taking pictures of my family and friends, the thought never crossed my mind that it could be a career choice. The very next day, I took my cheap point-and-shoot digital camera and began taking pictures of anything and everything from a more creative perspective. It filled me with so much joy! Three months later, I registered my first business (Rule of Faith Photography). I was nervous because this was 2008 when the economy was not best suited for a teenage entrepreneur. But after taking a few photography and business classes and working with mentors in the field, my business steadily grew. I got married in 2016 to another creative who has shown me so much support and encouragement through the ups and downs (thank you, Jason!). In 2017, I rebranded and joined up with a business partner to launch Twin Lens Studios, which includes both wedding/family photography as well as corporate/commercial photography.
Please tell us about your art.
Twin Lens Studios provides photography, videography, and photo booth services for weddings, events, and more. I believe that photos connect people, and they are precious memories that should be passed down for generations. I aim to capture portraits and events in a photojournalistic style – creative but unobtrusive – so that memories can be preserved and stories can be shared for years to come. I teach all of my clients how to feel relaxed in front of the camera and what poses help them look most confident.
Given everything that is going on in the world today, do you think the role of artists has changed? How do local, national or international events and issues affect your art?
Generally, I think art is becoming very undervalued. Now that anyone can take a decent photo on their phone, professional photographers must fight to prove their worth. To set myself apart, I strive to not only provide quality, timeless photos but also to go above and beyond to make sure our clients have the best experience through the entire process. Everyone has a unique story, and I love getting to know those stories so that I can capture that essence in a photo or film.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?

Supporting local artists is as easy as liking/sharing a post on social media, or telling a friend about an awesome experience you had! Referrals are my greatest source of business.
