Meet Amanda Kapci of Butterfly Baby Concierge in Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Kapci.

Amanda, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Children and families have always been a passion of mine. When I turned 12, I was so excited to start babysitting for family friends and family members! I loved every minute of it and quickly realized that working with children was what I was meant to do!

I attended Arizona State University and obtained a bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education. While I was studying at ASU, I got a job as a nanny for a FANTASTIC family! I loved my job and my charge like he was mine. They took me on vacations with them over my breaks and made my job feel less like a “job” and more like I was a member of their family. I was an extension of their family, for sure. Back then, 18 years ago, I thought; it would be so cool to have a business that would help bridge the gap between nannies and employers. One that made it so that both parents and nannies felt like they were getting the most out of their partnership. Many of my college friends were also nannies at the time and they didn’t have the same support and relationship that I had with my nanny family. It was then that I saw a great need for this type of service in an industry that can be very focused on fulfillment and not on the personal relationship that should be taking place to better serve the family unit as a whole.

Fast forward 18 years, I had 4 wonderfully sweet daughters of my own, taught 3rd grade and preschool for a few years, but my dream never left me. I started to put my business plan together and centered it around making sure that parents would never feel alone in their parenting journey. Parenting is a journey, you need a “Tribe” around you to help support and guide you through each step. That’s why Butterfly Baby Concierge was created and established, to support families where they are at.

On July 7, 2017, I knew it was time to launch! My daughter sat next to me at my desk, I had her hit “live” on my website, and away we went!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The highs and lows of starting your own business from the ground up have been there for sure! It’s never easy to have a dream for so long and then essentially invite the world into your head; all of your hopes and dreams out there for everyone to see and evaluate. It was so scary and it’s till scary to me.

The biggest challenge for me was developing a business model that would be a support and encouragement to both clients and nannies while also allowing myself to have time with my family and to ultimately be a mom to 4 daughters. That’s not easy! It’s a balancing act to make sure that my nanny tribe is being supported, fulfilled and encouraged in their positions every day. Nanning can be very isolating at times and I never want them to feel alone in their roles. I also want to make myself very available to my clients so they know that they’re supported and that they have the tools and resources to be successful employers.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Butterfly Baby Concierge story. Tell us more about the business.
Butterfly Baby Concierge (BBC) is expertly designed baby preparation and Elite nanny placement services. Our business is Elite in every way.

We begin every client relationship with an in-home interview to design and customize their job description. Their job description is important to us because that’s what we use to hand-select each and every nanny candidate they will meet. We then get to work in interviewing and vetting nannies specifically for their family and the needs they have. Each family we partner with is so different. That’s why our services can be flexible around their needs and expectations.

We also meet EVERY nanny in a face-to-face interview. We want to get to know them personally as well. These nannies will be a huge part of our clients’ lives so we are dedicated to making sure that they are exactly what our clients are looking for in their nanny. Once placed, the nannies become a part of our BBC Elite Nanny Tribe. We meet for play dates, coffee dates, hikes, etc. We have so much fun! I can say that I would 100% trust each and every nanny we have placed with my own 4 children. And, I do, all the time! Our nannies are truly AMAZING!!! We are a fantastic Tribe. I love helping and supporting them each and every day.

After we line up 3 nanny candidates for our clients, we will bring them back to our clients home for second round interviews. I am there for those, as well, to help facilitate the conversation and build a solid foundation from the very beginning.

This is what sets us far apart, support and constant resources. It’s why we are here and why we are so passionate about what we do every day.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I wouldn’t say it’s luck really at all that my business has been successful. My business is rooted and based in my faith. I truly believe that God made me who I am. He made me to be empathetic to people and to see people for who they are. He made me be an encourager and a supporter. He made me have the drive to help families and nannies in our community. He made me be a trustworthy friend. He also gave me the business savvy and drive that I would need to run my business to my greatest ability every day. He gave me AMAZING mentors and an equally amazing family who lifts me up and encourages me every day. So, no, it’s not luck at all, but God’s amazing grace and love that drives me every day!

Psalm 139 is written at the bottom of my website because I truly give all the honor and credit to Him. He made me be who I am and I am so thankful for it! I am constantly praying for my tribe, that I might be able to help and encourage them where they’re at, so they never feel alone either. God is good and He has been so good to Butterfly Baby!
