Meet Alyssa Quigley and Melissa Marquez of Bubble Hustle in Scottsdale and Gilbert

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyssa Quigley and Melissa Marquez.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Alyssa and Melissa. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
We are Alyssa and Melissa (yes our names rhyme and no we aren’t sisters). We are both mamas. We each have two kids that we adore and drive us crazy at the same time. We have amazingly supportive spouses that are the driving force to us starting Bubble Hustle. We couldn’t have done it without their support. We grew up together in El Paso, TX and have been running wild together since 6th grade.

We both always talked about having our own business one day. Something we can do while still being able to be home with our kids but have an identity other than “mom”. Don’t get us wrong then mom title is more than enough but we knew we also needed a little outlet for ourselves. If you know us, you know we love a good party. We’ve always gone all out for our parties and our kid’s parties. We started making balloon arches because they are the perfect way to make your party pop. More people started asking us if we could do balloons for their events and all of a sudden our “hobby” was turning into our “hustle” (as our husbands liked to call it). New Years 2019 we officially agreed to go all in and Bubble Hustle became our main hustle.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Definitely not always a smooth road but with every obstacle comes a learning opportunity. Some of the struggles we’ve faced is learning not to take on everything. It’s ok to turn down work or ask for help so you are not killing yourself. Another struggle has been to accept that sometimes events aren’t going to go exactly as planned but at the end of the day you just have to make it work. Usually, the best creativity happens when it’s not planned.

Please tell us about your business.
We are a balloon stylist specializing Instagram worthy balloon decor. We are known for organic balloon arches, garlands, balloon walls and balloon mosaic letters. We are most proud of the way our company has grown with really no paid advertising. It’s all been word of mouth and Instagram. It’s amazing what just word of mouth can do.

We think what sets us apart is our non-traditional balloon installs and the passion we pour into them. We love to think out of the box and make our balloon installs as creative as we can. If you have a theme you are going for we will go all-in on that theme and try to incorporate it as much as we can in our balloons.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
We both agree that our husbands deserve a lot of credit. They work full time during the week then usually on the weekends we are busy and they have to hold down the household and kids when they probably would rather be relaxing. They don’t complain and fully support this business of ours. They encourage us, cheer us on and sometimes even get in on the hustle.

Someone else who has played a big role for us is Susie who owns Rolling Rack Boutique. We messaged her on Instagram in the very beginning before anyone really knew who Bubble Hustle was. We had asked her if we could do balloons for her upcoming store anniversary party. To our surprise, she was up for meeting us and agreed to have us do her balloons. She had said someone gave her opportunity at the beginning that helped her and she wanted to do the same for us. That event turned out amazing and really helped get our name out there. We’ve continued to work with her and have also gone to her for advice on all things we are unsure about. She’s always been 100% upfront with us which is always nice.
