Meet Allyson Carothers of Mary Kay in Chandler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Allyson Carothers.

Allyson, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am a Senior Manager for Customer Service and just wanted more out of life! I would see so many people with side hustles and entrepreneurship, so I thought why not? I lead our Million dollar unit last year in sales by staying committed to my goals and working hard. In my opinion, working independently is harder because you are all the titles in your business so it’s important to have a great mentor and some cheerleaders along the way. I enjoyed watching others feel confident and great after a makeover or a facial so that helped me push through some long days. I watched YouTube videos on keys to success in entrepreneurship and learned how to overcome rejection. I was adopted at 9weeks so the fear of rejection is a part of my life. I strive to be the best me but at times compromise my happiness for the sake of others. Mary Kay helped me face that head-on and instead of taking the I’m not an interested person, I used it as a challenge to overcome the objection or to better determine my approach for the next one.

In my first year I built a team of over 30 woman, achieved rookie of the year which included over $30,000 in sales, woman cruise for my ability to build a team all while balancing a full time career, school, basketball coach, PTO board member, being a mom and a wife to some incredible little humans! 🙂

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it’s never easy, Especially entrepreneurship! You are the bookkeeper, salesman, marketing, and seeing the entire transaction through. The biggest hurdle for me was the rejection and balancing it all. I did that by just remembering my long-term goal and why I was doing it.

Please tell us about your work.
As a senior manager, I am known for my ability to instill confidence in others through teaching and showing and getting them to see their best selves. I have been recognized for my Leadership development and engagement. I am most proud of the people that succeed because of their ability to trust me to help them see their greatest potential.

And MaryKay I am most proud of accomplishing number one in sales for $1 million units which are a top-performing team in the nation and being number one in teambuilding which led to me earning a Bahama Cruise.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
One of my favorite childhood memories is my dad taking me to all the Arizona Cardinals football games. He would take me and a friend every Sunday and we would stay after the game too so that I could get team apparel. I was lucky enough to score some cool items and autographs as a child and to this day I’m still A loyal Cardinals fan. I get my hard work and work ethic from my dad who always taught me that being sick just wasn’t an option.
