Meet Allison Palme of Orchid + Bloom Photography in Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Allison Palme.

Thanks for sharing your story with us, Allison. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
A little about me, personally. I am a daughter, a sister, a wife, and a mother to my 5-year-old daughter & 2-year-old son. Prior to starting Orchid + Bloom photography, I spent ten years working in business and interior spaces. I love anything & everything creative.

I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. I moved to AZ with my family when I was a junior in high school. In all honesty, that had its challenges in itself. It truthfully allowed me to blossom, challenge my fears as a teenager not knowing a sole & embracing who I am in the process. It was hard, yet allowed me to mature & grow. I was raised in an artistic world. My dad was an immigrant to this country. He met my mom when she was studying abroad. He has always been exceptionally talented & never let anything get in his way. He has always believed in something, envisioned it & turned it into a passion, dream & true success story. He has always been my role model that embodies an artistic drive & passion. My mother, who is equally artistic, has always defined a strong work ethic & drive filled with sincerity, that I aspire to have in my life. So with these fabulous role models, I started photography classes in high school & college. I immediately found my love of capturing a story, vision, & a candid moment in time behind the lens. This is when my photographic love story began.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I certainly don’t feel like it’s ever a smooth road; however, I believe that’s when we find strength & growth. When I studied photography in high school & college, I worked with film & absolutely loved being in the dark room. It was so therapeutic to me. Like everything else, there have been remarkable advancements in photography. When I chose to start Orchid + Bloom Photography, I spent a lot of time researching & furthering my knowledge of DSLR cameras, editing software, and lighting. I feel like I will always strive to dig deeper & learn more on a day-to-day basis. It’s within that, we grow & evolve in our art & passion.

I feel the most important lesson I’ve learned thus far, is to never compare myself to another. We are all on our own journey & we can never compare our beginning to someone’s middle and beyond. I’ve learned that we lose sight of our own vision & creativity in who we are & want to be as a photographer.

I specialize in Family, Lifestyle & Business Branding.

My vision is to always bring my passion & experience in business and my love for family to my work. I believe every image is an opportunity to tell a story.

To describe my work; it embodies candid unexpected moments first & foremost. Lighting, composition, bright & vivid editing techniques are all equally important to me. I feel the photos we enjoy looking back at are when everyone is naturally being themselves. Either looking at the camera or not, capturing a story is what I always aim to bring to my work. My photos are to embrace & capture those moments that truly emulate us as people. I feel within that; it brings emotion, art, and a lasting memory to cherish for years to come.

In business, I always attribute quality images to marketing the product at it’s finest, combined with perfecting editing techniques & lighting.

I think what sets me apart is my knowledge in both business & photography. It allows me to be more versatile in what I specialize in. I believe that a clients vision is as equally important to mine, and I always take the time to listen & bring their ideas to fruition.

We always love to ask about the support network – have there been people, perhaps mentors or advisors, who have played a big role in your success?
My family & friends have always supported me in turning my passion into a business. For them, I am eternally grateful.

Additionally, one of my very first clients Nadine Bubeck has been a true advocate & support to me in my business. With her extensive experience in the media world, establishing her own successful business & brand, she has worked directly with countless photographers. I will never forget the first genuine compliment she gave me that reconfirmed & solidified the choice I made to start my business. She deserves a huge thanks for not only supporting me from the beginning but also becoming a friend who I am grateful to call family as well.
