Today we’d like to introduce you to Alisa Glutz.
When the real estate market crashed in 2008, homebuyers across the United States were impacted. Not only did their mortgages go underwater, but so did their credit scores. Their purchasing power was reduced to next to nothing, and many buyers couldn’t imagine a way out of this predicament.
Fortunately, time helps heal all wounds, particularly when it comes to credit. Many of these previous homebuyers are now seeing their credit scores rise and may be ready to enter the housing market once again. Before that can happen, however, these buyers could use the help of an experienced loan officer and credit expert to make sure their credit is as clean as possible — that’s where Color My Credit comes in.
Born and raised in Arizona, Alisa is also a proud graduate of Arizona State University. After a successful beginning to her career working in Hollywood as an Executive for HBO and a Producer on ABC’s Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher, Alisa decided to return to her native Arizona where she became committed to helping her community realize the dream of home ownership and understand their true credit potential. In October 2016, Alisa published Color My Credit which teaches consumers how to understand your credit report in a colorful simple way and shows how to take action to improve your credit score(s).
A busy advocate for consumers who are equally passionate about improving their credit scores, a prolific writer, and a woman bent on empowering others, Alisa is no stranger to the media! She is an expert in mortgage credit, working with many leading mortgage service organizations. Alisa is a teacher at heart, a natural speaker and engages audiences from short podcasts to lengthy radio shows. The following is a list of the more recent opportunities in which she has engaged, in an effort to shake up the thinking of creditors who have more personal shame than hope. You will experience her in print, on social media and be engaging with the public who has grown to love her sass, her style, and her overarching wisdom.
When she’s not working, Alisa cherishes time with her two beautiful daughters, Angelina, 11 and Brooklyn, 8 in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Any time someone goes out on a limb to bring to the public something they have created, they have to be ready to be met with criticism and obstacles. Being a licensed loan officer, I was faced with having my license taken if I referred people to credit repair companies or chose to counsel them myself. I wasn’t ok with just giving a yes or no answer. I wanted to be able to tell clients “not now but here’s how” so I went to work studying and researching credit and the FICO algorithm. I also knew I would have challenges with marketing a business that offered free services and was not credit repair but credit empowerment. The biggest struggle has been educating the public about the importance of credit in today’s world and the effect it has on building a financial legacy.
Color My Credit – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
As a licensed mortgage professional in the mortgage industry for the last 16 years, my passion has been helping people purchase homes. Nothing was more devastating than watching so many people lose their homes during the housing crisis. Color My Credit is my solution for helping anyone improve their credit and become a homeowner again or for the first time. I am so grateful to have found a way to truly help people with a simple method, even a kindergartner could understand. Everyone is invited to my table whether they are looking for empowerment, encouragement or credit and homeownership education. My method takes the stress and complexity away from understanding credit and how to raise your scores and brings hope to people who thought their hope had run out.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment was speaking to 2000 lenders at the Sales Mastery Summit in Palm Springs in 2015 on credit education and ending my speech to walk off stage and find my two little girls jumping around screaming how amazing I was. They are my everything and always my best audience.
