Today we’d like to introduce you to Alicia Bravo, Anastacia Robb and Leticia Clamor.
Alicia, Anastacia and Leticia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Our family grew up and danced in the West Valley. Our mother is an Early Childhood Education specialist and had worked part-time in the office for our hometown dance studio. That’s how we were able to afford all of us dancing. We grew up going to dance every night and revolving our lives around our dance schedule. It was truly a family affair. Our father was a part of the annual “Dad’s dance”, and our younger brother even took classes. We became known as the Bravo dance family. As we each graduated, we became three sisters who had each experienced dance in a different light.
Throughout the seven years age difference between us, we had been recreational dancers, competitive dancers, danced through college, danced for IFL teams, became dance teachers, and also became dance moms ourselves. We started families, and we lost loved ones. We had become educators working with children of all ages and skills. We didn’t have money saved up for a studio, so we started small. We subleased rooms from a local preschool and really tried to build up a family environment. After a year, we decided to take the leap and get our own space. Our mission became to enrich the lives of our students using dance as a tool to bring children with different abilities, backgrounds and personalities, into a positive, accepting, and non-judgmental environment. We strive to create a “Dance Family”.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
We lost our father in 2014 and four years later, we lost our grandmother. They were two of our biggest supporters. That jump-started our venture into becoming small business owners. We had followed our mother’s footsteps in also becoming Early Childhood Education teachers and working for schools. One of the biggest struggles we had was managing to work full time while also pursuing our dance studio full time. We made it work because it became our second home and we were surrounded by family and friends that supported us.
