Meet Alexis Tillman of Concealed By Alexis Victoria in Chandler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Tillman.

Alexis, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
When I moved to Phoenix in 2018, I thought of it as my last resort. I had graduated from Saginaw Valley State University, and couldn’t find employment in Detroit, MI. I ended up losing everything from my car to my home! While on a pre-paid family vacation, my aunt told me to move to Phoenix with her, and take advantage of the opportunities that were here. I did exactly that! I was always into makeup but just didn’t know how far I could go. One day, I decided that I to dive into makeup, and do my best at it. I wrote down short and long term goals and started putting the thing in motion.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Getting to where I am now was not a smooth road. I think being unstable financially got me to where I am today. I also had a humble upbringing as a child, so everything that comings to me is seen as a blessing. Another big struggle is being away from my mother, my siblings, and Rho Mu. They are my motivators! They let me know the real even if their advice does not sit well with me.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am a self-taught makeup artist. I create looks that inspire other individuals to get into makeup. I create looks like others are drawn into and can recreate for themselves. The growth of my brand has me overwhelmed in a sense. I want my brand to represent me as much as possible, and to have people gravitate towards that, is the best feeling!

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Me being able to have the products and set up just like any other makeup artist make me proud. I look at my makeup desk and smile, because once upon a time there was no desk. There were no products to even go on the desk, so I am just proud of the little thing that has been put into my life.
