Meet Alexis Cullen of Moon Star Shop

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Cullen.

Alexis, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started creating jewelry after many camping trips that lead to me finding some of earths many treasures. Sedona sparked my love for crystals and I started planning crystal hunting trips with my friends and fiancé. I knew I wanted to make my finds into wearable works of art. I went to the local craft store, bought a book on wire wrapping and I haven’t stopped creating since that day. That was almost 3 years ago. Now I have progressed into electroforming, which is a unique process allowing me to plate copper over any organic or nonorganic material. My options are endless.

Has it been a smooth road?
Nothing is ever easy. You have to work for it. You don’t become self employed by going to bed at a decent time. It took a lot discipline. I spent long nights looking for shows, creating unique pieces, and trying to figure out how to create my own website. It’s a learning process and if I would have given up, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Moon Star Shop story. Tell us more about the business.
I specialize in ‘Creating pieces for the goddess within’. All of my collection pieces are one of a kind and unique to it. I use a variety of colors in my pieces to create eye catching, high vibrational works of art. The crystals are a huge part in what I do. I love them, I give them love, I charge them in the Moon light, and sage them before shipping them out. It’s all about creating a pure, empowering feeling for the wearer.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
My fiancé, Justin and I have finally teamed together he’s been creating a men’s line and has taken Moon Star to the next level. He finds shows all over us and we are happy to say we will be a part of the Ann Harbor Art Festival in Michigan and another Art show in Chicago. It’s amazing to be able to travel and show the country our work. We will continue to follow our intuition on what to create and how to portray our art. We allow change to come naturally, never forcing.
