Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex joiner Jr.
Alex, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Well, I was born in San Francisco on July 11, 1965. We came to Arizona in the mid 70’s, I come from a long line of business owners type self-employed types in my family, I owned my 1st business at age 17th with a business partner that Rob the business and took off to Vegas with his money after he empties the accounts, so that was quite of a 1st experience to the business world. Other than seeing my Mother start many business and having some success but failed in the end, so lots of lessons I learned and experiences at an early age in life my mother had 15 kids and I am number eight, in the middle of the pack, but anyway enough of the early experiences that is a long story and I will save for a book one day, how I got in the mortgage business well it was in the late 90’s I worked for WMC it was a wholesale mortgage lender, learned from the bottom up I start in operation and work my way into sales part of this business, I worked as an AE for a bit at a couple of different companies, and around the mid-2000s went to work for a company call Stonecreek funding ended up as a regional sales manager, that place we partied hard but we worked hard as well , that was crazy and made a lot of money, some of everything what happening at this company sex, money and lots of partying at this company, it what we call the good old days, and way in July in 2007, the company closed and we had to let everyone go due to the mortgage market and lending market hit bottom, I lost everything estimated about $2 million, I was homeless by 2009 I was in a state of depression, I was a single parent and no home, my girlfriend left, I stayed in my car and with friends sometimes and family where ever I could, it was all very humbling, I did a lot of crying and blaming God for putting me in this situation, it took me awhile to get back on my feet I went from making $40k a month to $800 a month, But my faith and relationship with God grew and I was so happy that had my daughter and know I could not give up, no matter how hard it got, for me to be there for her was so important. So I did a few odd and different jobs, so back in 2011 I went to work for Wells Fargo for a year and then I thought to myself I needed to get back into Mortgage business cause they was not paying well, so I decide to go get my license and get back into the business worked for a few companies as a loan officer and a branch manager very stressful and did not work quite as well as I thought it would, so last year in 2018 in July I had a stroke and loss function to my left side of my body due to stress and diet, I did not eat that bad it was more of not eating and not regular exercising, and lots of espresso double at that not good for the body, anyway I barely keeping my head above water and started t catch-up on my back debt and hear this happen, but due to my previous experiences and how I felt God brought me though all of the things I went through at this point, I felt he would bring me thru this and he Did, I went to rehab for a month and was one of the hardest things. I had to do in my life I had to rehab every day for several hours a day 7 days a week it was hard core I would wake up in the middle of the night rehabbing I just wanted to get better and quick .. I did lots of praying very hard to my lord Jesus Christ, and realizing he has brought me though and I was not going to give up anyway after I left the hospital a month later I still had to do outpatient rehabbing it took me about another six months before I could feel normal, I decide to not work for the company I was working for at the time, but they were very supportive during my recovery for my health reason, I decide to go back into the broker world on October of 2018 and I really think I made the right moved things have been great I have come a long way and every aspect of my life, almost debt free and praying that I will be able to buy a home again, my first home I lost many years ago, so I just what to give my God all of the credit for setting my feet once again on solid ground and I am so bless and thankful!!!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No diffidently not a smooth road my whole life been challenged
My mother and father divorced at age eight, I been beaten and molested as a kid, I was thrown in a dark closet with no food as a kid for 21days I experienced homelessness as a child and adult no food for days or maybe just one meal a day’s sometimes, my 1st business my partner took off with our money, my 1st love broke my heart and my 2nd and 3rd, never been married, my last business partner back in 2010 died of a heart attack, the strongest woman in my life growing my big Mama dies during the time I lost everything, I never had a good relationship with my dad due to him not being around and I was angry for a long time because of it and then he died 2016,
I lost everything that I worked for my homes, money, and cars, and fiancée/GF and many so-called friends, I for a long time, seem to never get over the hump, had a stroke in 2018, so yes I have had lots of challenges. But by the grace of God, he has brought me through all of this and I have a daughter she has brought me so much joy as a father I am so proud of her, as a father, I am blessed. Thru all of this, I am grateful that I am still alive and very appreciative of the gift of life and those same challenges and how it has made me grateful and humbled.

We are one of the top brokers in the state very proud of that, I feel I am an artist in this business and I always wont to do what best for the client not what makes me the most money, putting my client 1st in every transaction, the money will come.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
To me that changes during every stage of maturity in life, today is different than what I thought yesterday,
So success is not about stuff. It’s not about money, yes though things are nice to have in moderation, to me it is about was I able to make a difference in other people’s lives for the good and as many lives before I leave this world. To be more to be a blessing to love and be kind and generous!
