Meet Addie Nicole, Bradley Amick, and Joe Polizzi of Halocene in West Side

Today we’d like to introduce you to Addie Nicole, Bradley Amick, and Joe Polizzi.

Addie, Bradley, and Joe, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Halocene has been an unstoppable force of hard work and passion since 2008. Having toured from coast to coast in a beat up van, opening for bands like Blink 182, Fall Out Boy, and rocking the Vans Warped Tour. Halocene found their stride as YouTube influencers, uploading weekly and collecting over 150 million views. They won YouTube’s Best Cover Ever, and have done collaborations with channels like Kurt Hugo Schnieder, Our Last Night, NerdOut, and First to Eleven. They are also one of the first bands to regularly live stream on Twitch (every Tuesday and Thursday. Halocene is 100% self-made. All music production, videos, sites, and media are all created by the band.

They have released 4 original albums, the most recent being REFRACTION. The album takes influences from all genres and creates something entirely unique. REFRACTION is available now on iTunes, Google Play, and Spotify, with physical CD’s available on the band’s store. The most recent single, “The Hunter and the Prey”.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a very challenging road for the past decade for our band. It’s been more of a marathon than a sprint for us. Doing everything without a record label, management, or any real out side forces has been difficult. Though it has allowed us to become self-sufficient in everything we do.

Touring was always difficult as it was expensive, and required us to all leave our desk jobs behind. However, it encouraged us to take the leap of faith and at least believe in ourselves to be able to be full-time musicians.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Halocene – what should we know?
Whether we’re playing corporate gigs, weddings, or festivals as a band, or doing jingles for toy commercials for Nickelodeon, Hasbro, or Disney, we try to stay busy and diversify ourselves as musicians. Our main focal point as a group is YouTube & Twitch. We seem to have found our niche and specialization in providing weekly content through music videos, and live to stream as a band.

Though it’s been a grueling road to get where we are, we’re very proud that we never gave up on ourselves. People’s consumption of music has clearly morphed into something we’ve never seen before. One thing that sets us apart is that we welcome these new transformations with open arms. It has allowed us to persevere as a group to evolve with our viewers/listeners and cater to the way they enjoy musical entertainment.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Arizona can be a great place for up and coming musicians. There are several venues in town, and some of the biggest moments in our lives, like opening for blink182 happened right here in the valley. Our radio stations often have opportunities for acts here, and the several festivals a year that welcome musicians are available. Starting out in the Phoenix area can be a good place for acts as once you evolve, it’s relatively easy to travel to nearby states to do out of town shows.

With any city or starting act, you have to approach it with a business mindset, respect those you work with, and put in your dues. Arizona has had several major artists from our state break through like, Jimmy Eat World, Chester Bennington from Linkin Park, Authority Zero and Michelle Branch.
