Meet Adam Saks of UltraStar Multi-tainment Centers in Maricopa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Saks.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
UltraStar was born as a Movie Theater company being at one time the 34th largest exhibitor in the United States. My business partner Alan Grossberg has been in the film industry for 40 years. From there we have branched out to expand into bowling, indoor golf, SkateParks / Surf Pools, arcades, VR, laser tag, group events, advertising and marketing development and of course, amazing Food and Beverage!

I think we are known for the guest experience. Many arcade games may be the same, a restaurant can have a similar menu, and we show the same movies that others do. What sets us apart is our team, our culture. Our belief that the guest experience and the theatrical experience must always be Center Stage. I believe we work with the team to create an environment where they are excited and happy and that translates to our guests. I think some of the things we are most proud of is the reputation that we have built. Our centers are known for great times with great service and food, our company is known for being loyal, hard-working and dedicated to our clients. One of the greatest moments of opening our Center with the Ak-Chin Indian Community was our first television commercial winning an Emmy Award. It was a very specifically designed spot to highlight the special nature of our building and project. Apparently it did.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No road to success is easy and nothing great is achieved without sacrifice. If you do not experience losing or adversity along your path, there’s no way you can appreciate the wins and achievements of your team. My path has been no different. I think one of the greatest struggles along the way is building a team. Creating an environment where people will learn and thrive is critical. Your ability to get people to buy into those systems and procedures is even harder. Communication is the most difficult part of our jobs and it is something I believe everyone will struggle with.

I believe the other greatest struggle one can have in a fluid and challenging business environment is the ability to keep your quiet cool. Leaders must remain consistent and approachable. Your ability to remain calm and make decisions that those times will define you. That takes time to learn and there is no way one can just know “what’s to do”.

Wisdom is learned.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with UltraStar Multi-tainment Centers – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
UltraStar Multi-tainment is your space with everything in one place. We are known for creating world-class entertainment venues that combine all of your favorite features. We offer a wide variety of attractions in different locations. These include movies, bowling, indoor golf, arcades and virtual reality experiences. Amazing food and beverage environments from casual to more upscale. Banquet and event spaces as well as marketing and advertising development. I believe we are known as venues that provide great food and great service, and environment that’s fun and exciting with a friendly upbeat staff. To our clients, we are dedicated and resourceful, hardworking and flexible. Always making the best decision for the business. I believe what might set us apart is our culture, we have a set of core values that attempts to guide our entire team and create the consistency of experience you want. We are very proud of our culture and what our team has achieved, seeing many grow within the company and take on larger roles. Also in creating our center with the auction Indian Community, we were most proud of the fact that our very first television commercial for the project one and me. It was a specifically designed spot to highlight the center and its unique nature, apparently it did just that!

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
The future for UltraStar right now is a very exciting myriad of opportunities. We have we been working with a few Indian nations for development of entertainment venues within Casino properties, we see that moving forward in 2018. We also have started work with private real estate investment groups on the large landscape of open retail Centers that need new and exciting attractions. UltraStar is a management company, we specialize in helping those with the means and resources to enter into the entertainment world to do so with a partner that can guide develop and deploy. I would say that we will see announcements of new Centers both in the remainder of 2018 and into Q1 2019. Our offerings are an ever-evolving set of attractions, we are looking to the announcements of a couple of strategic Partnerships to aid our efforts as well.
