Meet Adam Dixon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Dixon.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Adam. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
The Adam Dixon Perseverance Foundation was created in 2014. I had a 3-year professional football career playing arena football and brief stints in the Canadian Football League.

My team and I saw a need for energetic, nonprofit work in in the south Phoenix/Laveen area, I formed an organization to provide sensible solutions. We’ve provided educational scholarships, mentorship, leadership development and is forming a group home for at-risk youth & adults that are working to beat their substance problems.

Has it been a smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all. Difficult roads lead to beautiful destinations, and I believe that wholeheartedly. I’ve been through so much– a subpar college career, one major knee injury, a hip injury that could’ve ended my career. When I made it to the professional level of football every year, it seemed like, they’ve signed a person in my position to outwork and out to me.

Three years of professional arena football and yet, I still came out on top. There’s a reason the good man upstairs it’s “GOD ALMIGHTY” that’s got me to this place. I had to take a road less taken to show and tell others about my testimony & hopefully shine some light on their journey to success.

We’d love to hear more about your organization.
My nonprofit has created two scholarships: the Adam Dixon Perseverance Scholarship & the Divine Chromosome Scholarship. The Adam Dixon Perseverance Scholarship was created to make a difference in someone’s life. An award that recognizes an individual that has overcome many challenges and has demonstrated courage to pursue their dream. This scholarship is different because it’s only for seniors at my alma mater, Cesar Chavez High School.

The Divine Chromosome was created to enrich those with Down syndrome & their family. We believe that everyone in life deserves happiness & joy despite the limitations society puts on us. My younger sister has Down syndrome, so the Divine Chromosome really hits home for me.

We’re also closing in on our first group homes for at-risk youth and adults that are battling substance abuse. We’re looking to give a helping hand to those who want to get their life back on track and be with them every step of the way. We also mentor youth on the Native American reservations. That involves life skills, GED testing, and job placement opportunities.

I’m most proud of the lives that are being changed whether it’s the scholarship aspect, group home component of our organization or the mentoring part.

What are you striving for, what criteria or markers have you set as indicators of success?
True success to me is not measured in physical possessions, but in the amount of lives that you change.

Worldly possessions are cool, but what’s important to me is Godly success and what I did here on earth to help give back to others.
