Meet Adam and Jennifer Banton of The Biker and Baker in Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Banton and Jennifer Banton.

Adam and Jennifer, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve been a Pro BMX bike rider for a long time. Having lived all over the country and traveled the world following my passion through it all a few important things remained constant. Where ever I went Injuries and finding good food seemed to always be an issue. While any Pro Athlete can’t escape from getting injured perfection their craft on the road. Failing to find quality calories became a reality too often. So I started bringing my own. Looking back this is where The Biker and Baker was born, out of necessity to keep riding. Lucky for me Jennifer my wife is an amazing creative cook (and avid mountain biker) and came up with her own version of granola that was clean, calorie dense and traveled way easier than getting a bike through TSA. Before long we decided to launch our own brand with two Organic GF flavors. The Original a coconut, cashew and cacao nib granola and The Golden a turmeric, black Pepper and golden raisin granola. We are available at some great small business in the valley and Old Town Scottsdale Farmers Market on Saturdays during and High Street Market on Sundays in the winter. We recently launched www.Thebikerandbaker.com for people to order direct from anywhere in the U.S. We are so grateful for a lot in our lives we had to call I Gratitude Granola. It was is Ingredients your body will thank you for!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Once people taste it, they are a believer. We have a grassroots approach and try not to put stress on our selves.

Tell us more about the business.
As a Pro BMX bike rider, I don’t have a normal 9-5 job. Making up my daily schedule leaves me the freedom to have fun pushing the company at my own pace. Along with my other awesome sponsors I rep, I also rep The Biker and Baker and try to show the bike community and beyond you can always work through injuries if your willing to make healthy changes. Our Gratitude Granola is easily recognizable by the flavorful soft chewy toasted Gluten Free Organic Oats. Our Golden granola is a sweet and savory Turmeric anti-inflammatory flavor. A perfect way to get your daily dose of turmeric on the road. Jennifer and I work hard to source quality organic ingredients in both flavors of our granola. Using local Arizona raw honey. We eat clean and organic at home and would never sell anything we wouldn’t feel our bodies.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Quality of life is everything to us. Being healthy enough to follow your passion is the outmost sacred gift one can receive. I feel I’ve been lucky in my career meeting some amazing people along the way and being able to recover from serious injuries I’ve sustained. Through life’s up’s and down’s. You come out of every situation stronger right where you need to be.
