Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Whitten
Hi AARON, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have been infatuated with health and fitness since I was a teenager. I have always enjoyed great satisfaction from helping others to improve their health through exercise and nutrition. After many years of personal training, I found that my ability to help others was limited; I needed to act as a physician to really change lives. My specialty is Lifestyle Medicine which combines exercise, diet, hormones, stress reduction, sleep, as well as Eastern and Western medicine to truly address all aspects of health. I LOVE what I do – I look forward to each day knowing that I can positively effect each person walking through my door!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting a new career required a new degree. I was starting over at nearly 30 years old which meant selling the house, car and most of my possessions to move across the country into a tiny studio apartment while attending college. Lots of long days consisting of working 5 AM-9AM followed by school all day and returning to work 5PM-9PM. Weekends were my chance to study uninterrupted 12 or more hours daily. It was a ton of hardship but I was working toward my dream; it was my choice and I saw it as a blessing, not a burden, to be able to pursue it. I don’t regret one minute of it!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I absolutely love my job! I help men, especially those over 40, to regain their vitality. Instead of seeing aging as an inevitable decline, my patients find themselves in their best shape ever with a new love for life. Seeing guys lifted from depression, pain and disease and given a new lease on life is incredibly rewarding. I feel that my approach is unique – most doctors don’t address exercise or nutrition to the extent that I do. I work in conjunction with an excellent trainer and meal prep company to provide truly full service health and wellness.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I have loved Phoenix since I first visited 25 years ago. It’s modern, clean and has a diverse population. It’s growing and you can feel it; the city is alive and thriving. That atmosphere is invigorating and combined with constant sunshine, it’s wonderful for my mood and attitude toward life. I have found very little to complain about here and hope that the city continues to grow as people discover what Phoenix has to offer. I plan to live in AZ the rest of my life!
