Meet Aaron T. of InWonder Films in North Phoenix

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron T.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Aaron. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My wife and I started our journey as Videographers eight years ago. We would create travel videos of trips we took across the country! From hiking down to Havasupai Falls to exploring the Island of Kaui, we would always try to bring as much video gear with us as we could, and then create a 4-8 minute video highlighting the most Epic moments!

After spending the last decade as a full-time Professional Photographer, I found myself at a place in my career where I needed a fresh vision. I realized that working with the medium of video instead of working with still photographs – left me happier and more inspired.

Starting about 18 months ago, we decided to “go big or go home.” We invested in state of the art video, audio and editing equipment, and decided to focus entirely on creating Wedding Films for adventurous couples. We envisioned a brand that could be driven by our free spirits and adventurous hearts… We realized that our niche involves couples who are looking for more than a wedding “video” or a recording of the happenings of their wedding day. We believe a “Film” can be so much more than that! A Film is cinematic, epic establishes the set and setting, and tells a story. An expertly crafted Wedding Film is not only something to be witnessed with the eyes and ears but also something you can FEEL.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Covid19 has definitely created challenges for our business. Our heart goes out to all of the brides who have been planning for years, only to have their special day canceled or delayed. But we have found that for many couples, in times of such uncertainty, they are certain of one thing—they want to get married right away! These difficult times have been a catalyst for more clarity, a fresh vision, and have been a tremendous opportunity to reassess priorities.

So we have found ourselves filming a lot more Elopements and Intimate Weddings lately. It really is a beautiful thing to witness love conquering all. It’s about learning to pivot! Many of our clients have had to cut their guest list down from 150-200 people, and instead are opting for an intimate setting with a few of their closest loved ones. In this type of scenario, I think our services are being valued even MORE because we are not only giving our clients a way to re-live their big day but also to SHARE that experience with the guests who couldn’t make it.

InWonder Films – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are a Husband & Wife wedding film house. We create compelling and immersive Wedding Films that not only capture the day but tell a story. My wife Rosie and I always work together as a two camera team. We are like yin and yang! Our film-making styles complement one another perfectly, and we have found that working together is not only enjoyable… but also results in a more DYNAMIC Film. We strive for perfection and excellence, so we take on only 15-20 Weddings and Elopements per year so that each Film can live up to our standards.

Even though we are based in Phoenix, we have found ourselves filming all over the state, even venturing into neighboring states. In the past six months, we have been filming in Sedona, Flagstaff, the Superstition Mountains, Sacramento CA, and up in Utah at Amangari!

I think what really sets us apart is our attention to detail and our production level. A lot of couples tell us it’s the epic drone shots or our music selections that initially stood out. We include PREMIUM services into all of our collections, for no additional cost! This includes things like Aerial Drone video of the location and/or the surrounding area; 4K Resolution for our delivered films; professionally recorded audio; and two cameras with different perspectives rolling at all times. We also source our music used from a library of award-winning indie artists and custom picks the music to match each couple’s day, vibes, and personal style.

Also, we make it a priority to get to know our couples before the big day. We like to use FaceTime to get to know our clients for two reasons: First off, we want our films to be authentic to who they are, and second – by the time their big day rolls around – we want them to be comfortable and at ease with us! This makes everything go so much smoother and we can really dial into their chemistry and vibe!

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Our business is full of proud moments, but mainly humbling ones. To be able to work this business with the love of my life, while capturing the love of another couple on the biggest day of their life… and creating epic, beautiful films out of those moments… is a gift! To be able to work out in the middle of the most stunning natural places on planet earth… is a gift. And then to have inclement weather roll in and to witness the love and perseverance of these couples against all odds… is a gift. And finally, to be in the midst of a global crisis and yet be able to adapt our business to the changing times and continue doing what we love… you guessed it… it’s a gift! So overall, we are just very grateful.
