Today we’d like to introduce you to Wilson Carter.

Wilson, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My path to writing began in unexpected places—first in the U.S. Air Force, then in the classroom as a mathematics professor and textbook author. While I loved teaching and problem-solving, I always carried a deep love for storytelling. Over the years, I sketched ideas for a novel that blended political intrigue with themes of faith, resilience, and redemption. That vision became The Player and The Pawn, my debut thriller which was released September 17, 2025, under the pen name Wilson Carter. Today, I see writing not only as a creative outlet but as a way to invite readers to wrestle with questions of truth, freedom, and hope.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Life is a journey with unexpected twists and turns. Like all of us, I have suffered my share of challenges ranging from the unexpected death of my son to the financial struggles that come with raising a large family. Over time, I have come to recognize that it is in our struggles that we develop some of our greatest attributes. Through my own pain and grief, I’ve developed empathy. Through rejection, I’ve learned resilience. Through loss, I’ve learned to cherish the simple moments.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My career journey has been non-traditional. I presently work as a college mathematics professor and am an award-winning author of eight college mathematics textbooks. Other full-time roles over my 30+ year career have included Executive Vice President and Vice President in human resources and Air Force officer. Additionally, I’m an entrepreneur and founder of an occupational therapy company, a publishing company, and an educational content company. Although I’m proud of what I’ve achieved professionally, my greatest achievement is my marriage and family.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Dreams are worth pursuing. Obstacles are to be expected. Difficulties will come. Some days you’ll be tempted to give up on your dreams. But never give up. Never give in. And in time, you’ll realize what you once only imagined.
