Life & Work with Vedeta Hanley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vedeta Hanley. 

Hi Vedeta, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I was a graphic designer out of college but I was hired at a fashion house as an assistant designer because of my sketching skills. I fell in love with the industry went back to school for design. As I learned and grew as time went on, I worked for different brands, I grew a desire to launch my own brand.  2016 I Launch V Hanley and this year July 2021 I launched Genesis & luke 

I have had the opportunity to work for amazing companies like Ralph Lauren and Cynthia Rowley dream pop. There have been ups and downs but it the love of art and being creative keeps me going. 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some of my challenges are breaking the color barrier. Most companies I worked for, I am usually the only brown person in the room.  they don’t feel you deserve your position even if you are the best in the room. I find you have to be the fastest, most creative, and the hardest working just to get a seat at the table. I am ready to rise to any occasion, but at times it is frustrating to here when some say “she is talented but she don’t have the right look”  which is why I admire Virgil Abloh, he showed the world, art, and fashion is about creativity and sales, and you don’t have to “look a certain way, being a certain color, to be successful or make a brand successful.  I love how Rihanna has built Fenty, a billion-dollar empire. If you give us the opportunity we can create empires, or maybe that is what they are scared of ‘cause I came to slay darling. Launching my own line gave me the freedom to be creative and design for people who love what I do… And I do love what I do. 

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I love making custom prom dresses and wedding dresses because I love seeing the joy on their faces when the dress is completed. 

What sets us apart are our ability to be unique by still wearable. We are fashionable, classy, and sexy at the same time. We put love into our fabric by making the stain and order resistant. We have jackets and dresses that like up. Our graphics premium applications are though-provoking and Edgy
