Life & Work with Tina Hernandez of Chandler Arizona

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tina Hernandez

Tina, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started “Gothic Moon Boutique” spontaneously after some brief thought in the middle of August when I was trying to find jewelry relating to my aesthetic and couldn’t find anything I liked. And when I DID find something I liked, because I have sensitive skin I’d end up having a reaction to the material and would have to just put the jewelry aside to collect dust.. It wasn’t the greatest feeling.

I’ve always had some sort of creative mindset, I love making things my own, ever since I was younger ANY form of art I could use to express myself I’d do it. So I used my creative mindset and decided to make my jewelry for myself and after getting compliments over some time, after some back and forth thought with myself I finally open up my website “Gothic Moon Boutique”, to sell hypoallergenic-friendly jewelry for those who might’ve had the same issues I’ve had!

I wear every single piece of jewelry I make to make sure I don’t have a reaction before it is ready to be shared with the world. I’m just hoping people who might have the same aesthetic as me, and maybe even have sensitive skin can come across my jewelry and share the same love for that “dark aesthetic” vibe that I do! I am super excited for all these new projects I’ve been working on!

I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for the support and love I’ve gotten from my wonderful fiancée, my amazing friends, and my family.

I’m extremely excited to express myself through my work and show everybody out there, what Gothic Moon Boutique is about!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’m going to be honest and say it has been a challenging time for me as I’ve only been in the business officially for five months and I’m still relatively new to putting myself out there 100% like I have been.

The hardest challenge for me right now is finding my target audience and trying to keep a positive mindset when the sales slow down. Putting myself out there online was really challenging. I just wanted to show my art and share it with the world, in hopes of gaining some new traction as social media is a HUGE part of this generation, and people weren’t always supportive, but I chose to ignore the bad and push myself to thrive and continue doing what I love to do.

I do get lots of love on our TikTok (@GothicMoonBoutique) and I’m pushing to post new videos displaying sneak peaks of some new creations I’ve been working hard to get ready for the new year!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I make hypoallergenic-friendly jewelry for those who have a dark aesthetic! I am known for fitting those “gothic witchy” type of vibes, and my favorite pieces are our “hand-wrapped quartz necklaces” which are made with genuine quartz that I get locally from a distributor in Chandler, Arizona which gets all their crystals from around the world, and I am still in the process of mastering hand wrapping them myself, but I think I’m getting better! And one of our newer pieces our “black floral resin” necklaces!

They are personally my favorite! I had so much fun making these and I am currently making more stock so we have plenty available!

I’m proud of the fact that I’ve really put myself out there these last couple of months, and just had so much fun creating all these new pieces and trying new crafts out! And I’m also really proud of the fact that I was given the opportunity to be interviewed by you guys so thank you!

What sets me apart from others is the fact that I strive to give my customers the highest quality jewelry pieces! I want to make sure those who have sensitive skin are taken care of and can still rock that “witchy” look with our jewelry!

And all my newer pieces are all mostly handmade with UV resin and I plan on making tons of fun unique pieces!

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Hopefully, in the next five years, I plan to expand my jewelry and get better at my crafting. I want to put myself more out there, and would love to be able to attend frequent Farmer’s Markets and find my community!
I’m also hoping to find what my unique style is, but I’m having so much fun finding it in the meantime.

I’m excited to see what will happen within that timeframe. I hope you guys join me on this adventure to see what’ll happen in the meantime.
