Life & Work with Shanti Rose of Phoenix

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shanti Rose.

Hi Shanti, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Creativity has always been part of who I am, but for many years, I was working in administrative roles. Eventually, I realized I wanted something more—something that would let me use my artistic side—but honestly, I had no idea what that “something” was. That’s when I decided to go back to school and take a career exploration class to figure it out. After taking what felt like countless assessments and personality tests, Interior Design came up as one of the suggested paths. I enrolled in a few classes to test the waters—and quickly fell in love. I went on to complete my degree in Interior Design and knew I had found my passion.

I spent the first eight years of my design career working for several firms, gaining invaluable experience and learning the ins and outs of the industry. Over time, I realized I didn’t want to work for someone else—I wanted the freedom to choose my projects and work with clients in a way that felt authentic to me. So, I took the leap and opened my own firm. This December marks 7 years in business, and I couldn’t be more proud. Today, I’m fortunate to have a phenomenal full-time employee who manages our operations and administration, as well as a talented junior designer who helps on a project-by-project basis. It’s been an incredible journey filled with challenges, growth, and amazing clients, and I’m excited to see how the next chapter unfolds.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Overall, it’s been pretty smooth sailing, but like any business owner, I’ve faced challenges along the way. One of the biggest hurdles for me has been figuring out how to run a business without having taken any business classes. As a creative person, I came into this knowing a lot about my craft but very little about the operational, financial, and strategic sides of entrepreneurship. It has been a continuous learning process, and I’m still growing in those areas.

To help navigate those challenges, I’ve focused on building relationships with strategic partners who share my values and genuinely want to see me succeed. Surrounding myself with a supportive network has been invaluable, and it’s allowed me to stay aligned with my vision while gaining insights and guidance that I wouldn’t have had otherwise. So while there have been ups and downs, every challenge has been a stepping stone to becoming a stronger business owner, and I’m grateful for the journey and all the lessons it’s brought.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m the founder and creative force behind Piece by Peace Designs, where I specialize in creating personalized, meaningful environments that reflect each client’s unique story and lifestyle. I work with both residential spaces and boutique commercial environments, blending thoughtful interior design with a deep understanding of how spaces affect wellbeing and daily life. I’m known for my ability to listen closely to clients’ needs and translate their vision into beautifully cohesive and functional designs—whether it’s a full home makeover, a boutique commercial project, or a single room refresh.

What sets me apart is my commitment to designing with intention and purpose. I focus on crafting spaces that not only look stunning but also bring peace, comfort, and harmony to the people who live and work there. I incorporate elements of nature whenever possible—whether through natural textures, organic materials, or thoughtful greenery—to bring wellness and design together in a way that feels authentic and balanced.

I’m most proud of the lasting relationships I build with clients, many of whom come back for multiple projects or refer me to their friends and family. Each project feels like a collaboration where I help clients feel truly at home in their spaces. That genuine connection and my dedication to bringing peace and joy through design is what drives everything I do.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I believe the key to my success lies in my strong commitment to collaboration and clear communication with my clients, team, and partners. I see design as a deeply personal process that requires understanding each client’s unique needs and vision. By working closely together and maintaining open dialogue throughout the project, I’m able to create thoughtful spaces that truly enhance my clients’ well-being. This commitment to intentional, wellness-focused design ensures that every environment I create supports comfort, balance, and beauty—making the experience as meaningful as the final result.
