Life & Work with Phoenix Funkeros

Today we’d like to introduce you to Phoenix Funkeros.

Hello Phoenix Funkeros, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
All three of us were always into music. We like P-Funk, rare and classic Funk. Along with the other genres like Hip-Hop, Soul, and Oldies. Wether if it was around car shows, in our cars our houses, and from our families we were always surrounded by music.

Two of us were in our school’s band and one of us started to DJ at a pretty young age. All of us connected at a South Phoenix radio station known as KDIF in 2017. In that radio station there was a Funk segment that was broadcasted live every Sunday. We were invited to be guests on that show, we’d bring our own vinyl and that’s were the Phoenix Funkeros was born.

We kept moving forward and got a good response and support from the community that we’re thankful for. We started something that represents Phoenix Arizona.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
For the most part, it’s been a smooth road. Sometimes, we would hit bumpy spots but with anything if you believe in something so much you keep rolling and those bumpy spots get left behind you.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I think what we’re known for is having some really cool Funk in our vinyl collection in Phoenix. Some of the Funk we play has not been heard by some of our listeners. We have a lot of classic Funk that people are familiar with as well.

At the end of the day if we play some music that people enjoy then that’s all that matters. We have worked really hard to be good DJs, from the beginning we practice often to better our skills. We’re proud to be able to perform some really smooth DJ sets.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something some people out there might not know about us is, that most of our art designs are made by us. Some of the designs that are on our merchandise were designed by some of our close friends but the majority of the designs are created by us.
