Today we’d like to introduce you to O.T. Ashton.
Hi O.T., so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started off in Phoenix, Arizona with a dream to be in entertainment production and make music videos, so along the way I had some friends who were in bands they would play the local shows. I started filming them editing video and at one point one of the bands got signed to a label out in California. The label then contacted me inquiring about the the videos I made , they asked me to become their video manager, and all the sudden I found myself in the middle of the recording industry, making music videos for MTV VH1, etc.,
fast-forward, I jumped into the tech world spent the next 10 years with my company Ashton Media making High-end websites, inventory databases, etc. Then taking a digital hiatus, I then spent the next 10 years in Los Angeles becoming a Production Designer /Art Director/prop stylist / set decorator for networks including ABC CBS NBC Fox work for Disney Nickelodeon as well. we did a lot of still photography for marketing and promotion departments. Worked on multiple national commercial campaigns with Reebok ,target , Viagra , Subaruand many many editorial magazine covers.
After that run I got myself back to Phoenix, where I drop myself into the middle of the local music scene and over the last year I’ve been promoting bands , promoting events , and creating atmospheres for different music genres to interact with each other, building a strong community.just recently finished up another amazing event . looking forward to the future, putting on more events and just really excited about bringing our community together through music in the arts
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road to get here for me,has been amazingly not planned out ,due to the fact that my whole life this is all I’ve ever done and I wanted to do. I don’t think about what I’m doing. I do the things I love and I’m passionate for and I find myself in these positions and it’s amazing and of course, there are those struggles along the way, But I don’t call them struggles their challenges and that’s why I’m here. It helps me grow.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I work in all the fields of entertainment and arts. I truly enjoy throwing a show or an event where people gather and discuss and enjoy music, art and each other stories.Learn from each other’s cultures and grow together, my main point is to have a spiritual experience every time I meet someone and when someone comes to our event, they’re gonna leave there feeling a little bit better than they did before they got there that is my passion and my drive for what I do.
I simply love
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
The best part of the city is the pockets of culture that are all around us and the beautiful thing is as they are gathering together more and more often and the more we all just get together and share and come together the better we’re all gonna be one of the things I don’t like about the city right now is we need to Encourage culture to grow in all aspects needs to be a well rounded Valley I want the valley to be known for gathering cultures maybe like a hub of sharing and caring is what I’m looking for
