Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikkole Jones.
Hi Nikkole, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
During the pandemic, I started American Poppy during my senior year at Washington State University. It was a dream that I had. However, I never thought that I would be able to achieve it. After finishing college, I started working full-time and focusing less on my dream. Since moving to Arizona, I have grown and taken my business more seriously. I have loved all the opportunities to expand my audience and chat with so many of our customers!
Would it have been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Owning a small business is never a smooth road! I opened my business and had the unreal expectation that we would go viral on TikTok and I could make my dream a reality! I struggled with not getting sales for months and having the opportunity to reach a group of people and get in front of customers so they could physically see our clothes and accessories.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Outside of American Poppy, I work for a staffing company.
How do you define success?
Success to me is that you are growing, and I don’t just mean in the number of sales. But you as a person and as a business.
