Life & Work with Moriah Boone

Today we’d like to introduce you to Moriah Boone.

Hi Moriah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
One thing I can say for certain is that when I started this journey, I did not anticipate getting this far. I grew up in a household that prioritized reason and rationality…which meant the big dreams were often workshopped into smaller, more “realistic” endeavors.

My childhood dreams of making it to Hollywood were immediately shut down and my love of acting and all things creative laid dormant for nearly six years. Now, writing to you as a working actress and model who just bought her first home with those earnings, I can say with absolute certainty that if you want something and don’t allow others to dictate how much…the sky is the limit.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Although somewhat overused, the quote, “anything worth having is worth fighting for”, rings true for just about anything. This is especially true for dreams and aspirations. To create this life that I love so much, I had to leave behind a lot of people and do a whole lot of inner work. It wasn’t easy, but it was also absolutely worth it.

The biggest and most consistent struggle you will ever encounter is the people that you love telling you that you’re not good enough. Now, this doesn’t mean that they don’t love you and it doesn’t even mean that they don’t think you’re good enough. What it means is that they don’t want you to get hurt or get your hopes up for a dream so big. However, you get one life and it’s important to remember to live it for yourself and not anyone else.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a creative, it’s hard to pick just one hat of the many that we often wear but if I had to choose one it would be acting. I am an actress, and I am proud to identify as such.

I specialize in horror films and rom-coms if you can believe it. That’s what sets me apart-I can paint the picture of absolute fear and terror in one breath and another become the girl of any leading man’s dreams. I’m hoping this will eventually result in me snagging a “Gone Girl-esque” role.

The project I’m most proud of is my most recent film, “You Promised”. It’ll be screening at the Shockfest and Horrorfest film festivals this year in Los Angeles, California, and will start streaming on Shudder in 2023.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
My biggest hope for my industry is longevity. With the ever-changing world of technology and how it affects the way we consume media; one must be insanely adaptable to succeed in creating that media. The Hollywood of today is an entirely different beast than that of the 1930s “Golden Ages”.
