Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Fries.
Hi Melissa, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My story begins when I was young as a child. My mother was a hard-working business owner who gave me my very own first job in her hair salon as a receptionist! I also helped her with her business and did whatever I could to support her because I knew and saw firsthand how hard she worked for everything she had and built.
She was a single mother raising 3 children during the span of my childhood starting when I was in about 8th grade, and middle school. We at that time had to sell our childhood home when my mother and father were having to go through a divorce. That did hurt our family as it does for any family. It made me step up more and more to help my mom however I possibly could. I was very young but no matter what I never wanted to have to ask my mom to support me if anything I wanted to support her.
I worked extremely hard throughout the time from that age to now and there has been a lot of career growth and personal growth! It all landed me in mortgages and real estate. The reason I admire this industry so much is because it really does make one of the biggest financial and emotional impacts to individuals lives and families lives. I purchased my very own 1st home when I was 19 years old to help support and give my mother a safe and solid home to be in. I wanted her to have more and be able to feel secure and supported in her home life. Renting doesn’t give you that as it can be taken away at any given moment or terms changed etc. That decision was the best decision I could have ever made for myself as a young adult and family.
During the time we had to rent in my childhood I always look back and think “if someone would have stepped up and truly supported my mom to be a homeowner again what a better retirement and life overall she would have. Maybe she could be retiring sooner and work less or build more wealth to help grow even more with her business”. I get frustrated to know that my mom walked in and out of her bank and not 1 person had offered or been able to help her. She is someone who deserves/deserved all the help in the world!
With that not only do I want to continue to build wealth in real estate for my own family but I never want anyone to feel or be in the position my mother or family was in. I want to lead by example and lead with love to help any and everyone I possibly can be empowered and educated on what is possible.
There is too much fear and discouragement in the industry when in reality anyone can be a homeowner with the right guidance and action plan is executed! If I can help someone better their life, that is all I could ever ask for.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
A smooth road! I love that phrase but it has definitely been the opposite.
There have been many ups and downs, some would say this industry itself is a roller coaster. One day, you are on a high and the next you are on an all-time low. Resilience is a key character trait needed to be in the mortgage and or real estate industry and the one thing that keeps me going is the passion that gives me purpose.
Many fail and I see many give up. I have a gift to give to the world and I feel that deeply to help serve as many families as I possibly can the fact is that it isn’t about me, it is about others.
I have had many failures from the day to day rejection to much larger scaled rejection but the one thing I always find in those moments is leading with love is all I can do and it is who I am rejection has been a part of my life and something I have learned to use as a strength rather than a weakness.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in helping with restructuring finances to help existing homeowners feel financial freedom through mortgages and also help assist individuals who think homeownership is unattainable to make action plans to get to become homeowners. Helping others build their overall wealth through real estate is my specialty!
I would say for me what sets me apart from others is my heart. Many in this industry are in it for the money, fame, or simply just don’t care enough to put their all into it. I am here to stay, I am here for the long haul, and I absolutely love what I do and why I do it.
My goals are aligned with my heart, not my wallet. When you can do it for the right reasons that are really when you are successful in anything you do. I am most proud of building relationships and being a part of others’ lives in a meaningful way.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I have shared alot! I really would love for them to know that I am here truly from the bottom of my heart for their financial benefit and growth. That is why I am here, to serve.
