Today we’d like to introduce you to Marlowe Rensel.
Hi Marlowe, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, how can you bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I grew up all over California and never knew exactly what I wanted to do. I played volleyball in college and was always interested in the body, movement, performance, and athletics. Naturally, I got a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology with a minor in performance fitness and conditioning. Right out of college, I pursued a career in Personal Training while living in the California Bay Area. This started about the same time as the COVID outbreak, so all of my workout sessions were outside and socially distanced. I loved my clients and still keep in touch with a few of them today, but I realized this was not my calling. Around this time, travel was ramping up again, so there was a big need for flight attendants. I figured flying around the world would be something I could do for the rest of my life! The next thing I knew, I was based in Minneapolis doing 2-5 flights per day for half of the month. This job taught me so much about people, patience, letting go of what you can’t control, and much more. Plus, turbulence doesn’t even phase me anymore. I stepped away from the skies a few months after marrying my wonderful husband in January 2022. I was based in Salt Lake City, and my commute to and from work was a 1.5-hour flight on which I may or may not have had a seat. I decided all the time spent away from the people I love most wasn’t worth it. That brings me to where I am now: a Real Estate Agent and Fitness Studio Manager. My husband and I were able to purchase our first home right after our 1st wedding anniversary In February 2023. I was an agent, helping people buy or sell their homes, yet I didn’t think my husband and I were ready to be one of those people yet. We were about to sign a lease for another apartment when one of my fitness studio members asked me why we had yet to purchase. I told him we didn’t think we could. Two weeks later, we were pre-qualified (by that same member) and going out on home tours. Owning a home that we can renovate has brought so much joy to our life. However, we like it! All I want to do with my life is love God and love people. I am doing that through fitness and real estate; who knows what will be next?
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The major struggle of my life has been figuring out my purpose. Why am I here? What am I supposed to do? I am closer today than yesterday to discovering exactly what God wants for my life. This road is probably always going to be bumpy, though. Progress is not linear, nor is our life’s path (no matter how much I want it to be).
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Realtor that specializes in First Time Home buyers. I want to walk people through the home-buying process from start to finish, ensuring all of their questions are answered and they are cared for and heard throughout. I know it can be scary, so I do everything I can to educate, inform and encourage along the way! Buying a home is the biggest purchase most of us make, and I want to ensure everyone who works with me has a transparent, positive experience.
What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
In the end, all that matters is loving God and loving people.
