Today we’d like to introduce you to Livi DarConte.

Livi, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m a Director and Screenwriter, I’ve been working in the film industry since I was 2 years old where I was a child actress and decided to full send it into directing/screenwriting around when I was a preteen. I did multiple internships with Directors that I was previously woking with as an actress throughout middle/high school. I eventually went on to trade school which then went on to college. After I graduated college, I’ve been expanding my career and consistently working on productions. Over the past couple of years, I have directed various short films, music videos, and promotional work as well as been apart of over 30 other productions. I’m bringing stories to the screen as much as I can, bringing the visions I have to life for audiences to experience my lens on the world. I’m so excited to share my upcoming productions I have in store for my current and future audience to enjoy.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Similar to any career, there is defiantly going to be some obstacles and bumps in the road that can arise. I found that when this differs from production to production, it’s all about how the situation is handled that really shows if it was detrimental or not. A majority of the work that goes into filmmaking is problem solving and collaborating with others to tackle those obstacles. I’ve been blessed enough to have solid and hardworking individuals that I can collaborate with that we can eliminate problems even before they arise. Referring the bigger picture of my career overall, I’ve found myself thankful for certain bumps int he road because I feel like they have made me a better filmmaker. By this, I mean it always maintains my desire to learn more, develop my skills further and take those situations into account to better my art. It’s so important to take things that might seem like a challenging obstacle in life and turn it into an experience to improve your future.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As I previously stated, I am a Director and Screenwriter. I specialize in directing films and music videos, I’ve been doing this for the past 5 years now. My work is focused on surrealism metaphorically depicting human nature, redefining the experiences/emotions of being human being brought through a new perspective. With my eccentric worlds and characters that I bring to the screen, I love to bring audiences on a journey where they feel involved. Every detail has a meaning relating to the overall theme of the story that can be excavated from what they are watching. When audiences experience my work, I want them to be impacted in some way. Rather that be looking at life differently, relating to the stories I bring, feeling inspired, etc. I feel that it is so important to view life through art and have art reflect our story as human beings. I hope that new and returning audiences can feel rejuvenated with imagination and overall enjoy the experience of the stories that I bring through my lens of the world.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
When it comes to my creative process, I love taking I as much inspiration as I can. My most recent favorites have been documentaries and reading. I watch a lot of true crime and psychological based documentaries as I find them interesting due to the fact that it’s surreal to analyze certain human behaviors that you could imagine could only exist in fiction. I found this incredible to deep dive into because it shockingly educates myself as a creative to look at characters or stories I might write in a different perspective. Overall, it keeps my drive to learn high and I love consuming knowledge of history that I never knew before. When it comes to reading, I love reading almost any kind of book that my fellow creatives recommend. I’ve been recently getting myself back into reading which has been fantastic. My recents have been Francis Ford Coppola’s books, I’ve been circling through a couple. I also love to read the original scripts for my favorite films when I find them available to see different styles of screenwriting. I find that this helps me as a Director to see how these films went from words to a beautiful visual masterpiece on screen.
