Today we’d like to introduce you to Loomologie. Loomologie is a curated collection of vintage and antique textiles to fit any style, with a focus on superb quality that holds appreciation, beauty, and unique history. They believe that artfully crafted rugs elevate a space more than anything, and consider this when curating each collection. They and their team share their story with us below:
Kari, a diminutive name given by her parents, is the founder and creative director of Loomolgie. Her story begins like many home creatives: with a passion for design, an intuition for balance and beauty, and a taste for sweet, old things.
Antique shopping and curation had long been a past-time of Kari’s – so much so that at one point, she could’ve opened a vintage shop in her own home. However, it wasn’t just the timeless quality and durability of antique pieces that drew her in. It was the stories.
Each piece has a story to tell – where it comes from, how it was made when it was made, who has loved it before… And Kari has always wanted to know it all.
Her passion for finding and revitalizing vintage items bloomed into Loomologie – and the rest is history. Kari’s laid-back and timeless design aesthetic inspires the elevated, effortless character of Loomologie’s collections – as she helps create a world of lived-in, sustainable beauty.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
There are many highs & lows to starting your own business, with both risk and reward.
With all this creativity circling in my mind, trying to put it all into words or a certain look was and still can be a challenge. One of the biggest challenges small businesses face seems to be social media and lack of exposure. It can become an emotional roller coaster. I’ve learned to pivot and wear many hats though through each high & low.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Prior to this endeavor, I was primarily involved with patient-care and administrative work. Building relationships with patients was important, just as building relationships with clients is now.
I enjoy connecting with people near and far, and I get to do this within my own setting, which makes the approach more comfortable. My studio allows me to hold virtual 1:1 consultations with prospective clients and having that space has really helped with forward momentum.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I’m naturally inspired by interior designers. They play a huge role for me personally and professionally.
A big thank you goes to two designers who’ve supported and mentored, Ling Interiors and Fletcher Rhodes. I’ve had the pleasure of becoming friends with Kari Keene from House of Keene and Bonnie Ryan from The Ryan Haus who’ve both been cheerleaders and advocates. I’m thankful for so many, it’s really hard to list them all here, as they’ve all helped in various ways. Without them, I wouldn’t have the confidence I do and continue to gain.
My biggest cheerleaders and supporters are my family though. My husband really gave me the push to go forward with this passion instead of just daydreaming about it. That push gave me the clarity I needed, and it blossomed into reality. We both have strong work ethics and he sees me pour myself into this every day and I am very thankful for his support.
