Life & Work with Justin Godsey of Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Godsey.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started my business back in 2019 when I was primarily focusing on selling Real Estate. I saw a need in the real estate space as video was just starting to become a big piece of marketing for agents. There was a major lack for high quality, cinematic video content and I knew that i could fill the void. I started with one agent, creating weekly home tours, which eventually expanded to numerous agents, various forms of social media content, and allowing me to shift my focus fully to building and working in my production company full time servicing more than just real estate, but businesses, personal brands, podcasts & more.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road for me in terms of building the business was relatively relatively smooth to start. I feel like a road an incoming wave of video needs with little to no competition at first. I was able to take the time to learn my craft independently while also having plenty of prospects to “practice” on for lack of a better word. I’ve always approached my business and working with clients in a very professional manner and I feel like that has helped my grow it to where it is today. Take care of people and exceed their expectations with the service you’re providing the experience that goes along with it and you’ll put yourself in a real good spot. The rockiest part of the road has been finding balance with the business and personal life. Over the last 5 years, in addition to growing my business, my wife and I have also been building our family. We have 4 young children at home as well as a dog and 15 chickens. Life is non stop 🙂

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I create videos for a living. I work with a lot of clients from many different industries and create content from social media pieces, youtube content, commercials/ads, podcasts, short films, documentaries. In addition to client work, I also create content around my own interests, my family and more.

What makes you happy?
Having an empty to-do list 🙂 I am a very focused and organized person and will work until the job is done. When the job is done, I am at peace and can rest knowing that I completed a job well done. Obviously my family and friends are what ultimately what keep me going and being able to spend time with them stress-free is the ultimate goal.
