Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua.
Hi Joshua, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It all started as a burning (no pun intended) curiosity into the world of coffee roasting. I found myself spending a lot of time conducting research, watching YouTube tutorials and doing hands-on experimentation in my kitchen. After assessing the fire risks of roasting beans in my oven, I invested in a decent-sized roaster and from that point I felt like I was truly on the right path of coffee righteousness… with minimal fire risk.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It was, in essence, not the hardest thing I’ve attempted in my life, but it definitely had some challenges. For instance, the trial and error period I went through in order to perfect the roast level I wanted took me over a month to get a good handle on. Now, it’s like second nature and has proved to be my most popular product.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a small batch coffee roaster based in the Melrose District of Phoenix, Arizona. I started Rad Bat Coffee as a means to share my love of that delicious jitter juice with people who truly appreciate the artesian aspect of the process. From start to finish I make sure that my product is just as rad as the people who have supported me by snagging bags of beans. I am so proud of what I’ve achieved in only a year with making a brand that people immediately recognize and also love.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
If I’m being real, my favorite memory from my youth was my Voltron themed birthday party held in the backyard of my grandparents. Not to incriminate anyone, but I’m pretty sure there was access to way more sugar than any 4 year old would need.
