Today we’d like to introduce you to Jesse Chavez.

Hi Jesse, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I also feel our product is way more unique than most people in our industry. When we started the company, we started with just one location in a smaller seaside town of San Diego, CA. The perseverance through the pandemic and community support got us to where we are today.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. When people say, “most businesses do not make it past the 2-year mark”, they are not kidding. The first two years were probably the hardest. Finding the right people who fit well with your product and staff community is very difficult. In the middle of our journey, the Covid-19 pandemic struck. We had grown exponentially that season, and when the pandemic hit, it felt like we had to start from scratch in building our teams up.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m the company’s CEO, The Pacific Beach Allstars; we’re a “club” sport. Our facilities are typically 7000+ sq ft with 20-25 ft ceilings. I would say that I’m known for my social media and marketing savviness. I also speak at conferences explicitly catered to our industry. I’m most proud of the community we’ve built amongst our staff and athletes that we train. I’m huge on taking care of your people no matter what. It’s important to me to ensure that our athletes have an enjoyable experience and that our staff wants to come to work every day. This sport is something we all love. Ironically our company tagline is “Love the sport.”

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I love to engage with people. I feel like I’m a chatterbox. Everyone comes from different walks of life, so it’s nice to hear people’s stories while chatting with them. I like connecting with everyone personally; it makes knowing their needs much more manageable.
