Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenna Grant.
Hi Jenna, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been a reader and lover of books since I was little. I was following a design influencer to get an idea for my daughters bedroom when I saw that she created the inside of a mobile book trailer for a client. I immediately told my husband I wanted to do this too. He started looking for trailers that night. I simply laughed and told him I was slightly joking. That was about a year and a half ago to where this summer I decided to take the leap. While visiting my sister (she is also an avid reader) we started talking about how I could open a mobile bookstore. As soon as I got home my husband started looking for a trailer once again. Within the week we bought a trailer and started working on turning it into a mobile bookstore. My husband did all of the work inside the trailer and brought my ideas to life. He bounced ideas off family and they even helped when they were in town. Now I have the cutest mobile bookstore that I wish I could live inside.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a wild ride so far. Social media has been the catalyst for getting the word out, but it is my least favorite part of owning the mobile bookstore. Thinking I could just build a bookstore and fill it with books seems easy enough but getting the right licenses and finding places to park my trailer can be difficult. Also, making sure I have enough inventory and getting books to my house on time can be very stressful.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Any job I have had has been administrative. I’m very organized, punctual and dependable so I feel this has helped me with running my own business. I love the organization of bookshelves and often mix them up because I find it relaxing and fun.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My husband deserves the most credit. He has supported me from day one, no questions asked. He literally built my trailer out into a bookstore in the middle of the summer, simply because I wanted it. He drives the trailer to events and helps pack everything up. I could not do it without him.
My girls are also readers and it has been fun to do events, bounce ideas off of, and get book recommendations from them.
My sisters have listened to me talk out ideas, give book recommendations and spent more time on FaceTime than they probably wanted to for opinions on how things look. They are my constant cheerleaders.
My friends that have come help me load the trailer, helped at events, shared about the bookstore on social media and bought books. I have the best friends you could ever ask for.
