Life & Work with Holly Nellis of Northwest Phoenix

Today we’d like to introduce you to Holly Nellis.

Hi Holly , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Our Company’s Story

After owning and operating a small house-cleaning business for 25 years, I was forced to retire due to medical issues. That transition opened the door for me to pursue a long-held passion: floral design. I began working in a local flower shop, and during that time I purchased a horse trailer with the idea of transforming it into a unique event prop for weddings, birthday parties, and other celebrations.

After a year at the flower shop, that chapter came to a close — leaving me with a beautifully refurbished trailer and a big question: What do I do next? Inspired by my love of flowers, I decided to turn the trailer into a mobile floral boutique and began selling flowers at local markets.

Like any new business, there was a learning curve. It took time to master hauling, parking, and maneuvering the trailer. But “Trixie,” as she came to be known, quickly became a charming and iconic presence at the markets. With her black-and-white accents, dreamy atmosphere, interactive Bloom Bar, and curated floral-themed gifts, she offers guests the experience of stepping into a modern mobile flower shop.

My passion for floral design has grown into a full-service floral business, including event florals of all sizes — from intimate gatherings to weddings and corporate events — along with subscription arrangements, deliveries, mobile classes, and hands-on flower workshops. If it involves flowers, I’m here for it.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Owning the business has come with its challenges, but each one has helped me grow.

Scaling, monetizing and of course, finding storage for everything that you actually need for this type of business!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
The flower industry. It’s actually very vast. It’s not just walking into a grocery store picking up a bouquet of flowers. There’s so much more to it so many faces and hands that touch those flowers before they go home with you. Event work is wild and amazing and so creative.
Truthfully, I would say it’s my passion of Flowers, but mostly wanting to connect with a client on a level of understanding what they’re really looking for and what’s going to make their dreams come true.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Connection with others. It’s hard to find joy sometimes in this world and Flowers can really do that for people. They just have to be exposed to them. And that’s what I do. I bring it to them!
