Today we’d like to introduce you to Gina Resendez.
Hi Gina, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was working in the corporate world for a while and decided to open my own business. I really wanted to focus on being of service to others, helping them in different ways and situations. Being a notary public, I can help those who need important documents like Power of Attorneys and Wills to be notarized. I went a step further and became certified with the National Notary Association as a loan signing agent so I could also assist those needing notarizations for their home purchases, refinances and other mortgage options available needing my services. I have also become legally ordained as wedding officiant to provide ministering services, performing weddings all over the East Valley. Being mobile is a big part of my business and it brings me joy to be able to be of service to so many in so many ways.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, not at all. It takes money to make money and the startup cost for any business is always going to be more than your profit in the first year but like with everything else the more you work at it the closer you get to success. Marketing was one of my biggest struggles. I was not very active on social media, but marketing yourself is the only way to obtain business. I’m not shy going in person to introduce myself, but with social media being so big now, you do have to have a presence on social media. I did have to take some classes and attend marketing events where i met some wonderful people who helped show me some of the ways to market my business.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a mobile notary, loan signing agent and wedding officiant. I specialize in assisting new or current home buyers with completing their buyer/seller and/or refinance packages. I also work closely with those in the community that are needing power of attorney and wills, bills of sale and acknowledgements. I also officiate weddings.
I’m most proud of how far I have come and how many people I have been able to assist. Most of my clients do come from word of mouth and that’s probably my most fulfilling thing to hear is when someone calls me to seek my services and advises they were referred by a previous client of mine. I also enjoy when i can assist someone who called other notaries before me, and they were not available due to the time the client requested. I specialize in being available after hours and weekends to convenience all types of schedules.
What I believe sets me apart from others is a true understanding and love to provide the best customer experience, being mobile and available when others are not. Everyone has a story and it’s important to understand that and try to be as accommodating as possible.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Yes, I am a big believer in mentoring. I am always around to help those in need or who have questions on how to get started. I do like to attend marketing events, there are so many people you can meet and even if they are not in your field of service, there is always something you can learn from others to inspire you to be your best version and successful in whatever you put your mind to. I talk to everyone and take a little of each of their story to motivate me to continue my journey of being successful.
