Life & Work with Ewa Rusenovich of Anthem

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ewa Rusenovich.

Hi Ewa, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am a first-generation immigrant from Poland. I grew up in the Chicago land area and went to cosmetology school during my jr and senior year of high school. My love for hair and beauty began when I was very young!

  • At 19 in 2009, I got my first job at a salon and worked there for 5 years, honing my skills and furthering my cosmetology education.
  • In 2014 I decided to open my salon suite where I specialized in color and blondes.
  • In 2016 I became highly Ill with autoimmune issues, which I battled while running a business and raising two boys.
  • In 2020 we decided to start a new life in sunny Arizona. Our move helped me fully heal physically and emotionally. From 2020-2022 I traveled back to Chicago every month to take clients.
  • In May of 2022, I found my salon home at Luxxe B salon and day spa in the anthem. I am now 32, living the life that I always dreamed of!

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being a first-generation immigrant came with many challenges. I was a teenage mom. I was learning a new language, integrating into the American culture, and finding my place in the world. I struggled with severe autoimmune issues from 2016-2020.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in advanced colors and blondes. I never double book clients, so each appointment is personal and curated precisely to fit my client’s needs and wishes.

Do you have any advice for those just starting?
My advice is never to stop learning and always keep an open mind. Surround yourself with highly skilled stylists.
Always ask questions.
