Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Lynn.
Hi Eric, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I graduated from the University of Illinois with a bachelor’s degree in animal sciences. I was going to be a veterinarian. When I realized I didn’t have it in me to attend another 4years of grueling vet school, I paid $6,000 for a tattoo apprenticeship. I learned all of the styles over the years and feel confident doing any of them. I’ve been doing this for a living since 1998. My wife and I owned 2 studios in Illinois for the better part of 20 years. We sold them both and moved to Arizona. I decided that is was better to work for someone instead of owning. I worked in the Sedona area for 7 and a half years before relocating to Destination Tattoo Sedona. I’ve got to say that this is the cleanest, nicest and most professional shop that I’ve been in, in quite some time. I’m grateful to be part of this amazing team.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Owning shops is not as easy as one might think. The struggle of finding dependable, non-egoic, non-alcohilic or drug addicted people is very real.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I love color realism. It’s even more fun mixing American Traditional with realism. I love doing fan art in colored pencil as well. I love being able to do all styles and my degree in science helps me to firmly understand things like cross contamination and blood borne pathogens.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
There aren’t many authentic humans in this world.
